Hacking Save files and game ids

If i am to create a save file using e.g. mario golf with a header, then i change mario golf to use another game ID header, will the save file still work, or will it be read as corrupted for the 2nd 3dz file?

If you play using the .3ds extension, it doesn't care/use the header. the save will work.

If you play using the .3dz extension, the save is using the UniqueID in the header to encrypt(?) it. If you change the ID, the existing save will not work anymore.
