Hardware Sata controller to USB to Sata

I am in the process of creating a case mod for the Xbox One and I am attempting to make the Sata connector external. The reason this is posted under the PC section is because this is primarily a PC component inquiry. I have a couple of ways to achieve an external HDD case mod, but I was interested if the following adapter combination could work, or if anyone has tried it:

Stock Configuration:
Motherboard
Female SATA (all in one: Power+Data) cable
2.5" HDD

Proposed Configuration - Hyperlinks to product pages included:

Male to Male SATA coupler
Female SATA to USB A 3.0
Female to Female USB A 3.0 Coupler (This female USB will be replacing the front USB port of the chassis)
Female SATA to USB A 3.0
2.5" HDD

As listed above, I have no illusions of converting the onboard SATA controller to USB. I simply wish to narrow the cable to fit cleanly in the USB port without cutting by converting the all in one SATA connection over USB and back to SATA. I feel as if this connection would be passive; however, I'm not well versed in the implications of reversing a connector, or if the internal wiring for the adapters could support such a bidirectional configuration i.e. SATA power -> USB omnidirectional resistance?

Please let me know if anyone has thoughts on this.

Usb 3.0 can't support faster sata hdds such a 6 gigabits a second sata hdd. A slower 3 gigabits a second sata hdd will work fine.

I was under the impression it would just drop from 6 to 5, but you are saying I would need another HDD for it to even register? Is this also confirmation that SATA to USB can accept voltage bidirectionally? As in the SATA could transmit power to USB, and then back to SATA?

The speed of the sata hdd would be limited to 5 gigabits a second when using usb 3. The sata hdd would still work.

So to make sure I understand correctly,

You are saying the Motherboard SATA controller (female), converted into male, and running the power flow backward through the SATA micro controller on the Usb to SATA adapter, and then into the USB to SATA (as designed) on the other end of the USB coupler into the hard drive is not going to smoke anything, correct?

There should be no problem with the sata hdd working at a maximum speed of 5 gigabits a second.
