I'm pretty sure it's a normal mSDXC with a Nintendo logo on it, so it's very unlikely to contain any pre-loaded data. You'll have to update your firmware to get support (at least a little).

Sorry if this has been asked before,

Has anyone here purchased the official SanDisk switch microSDXC

https://www.sandisk.com/home/memory-cards/microsd-cards/nintendo-switch

I just wanted to know if it included the microsdxc update on the card.

Or will I have to update my firmware in order use the card.

Many thanks!
IIRC you need to update 2.0 to be able to use micro sdxc card. To stay at 3.0 you should be safe. There wouldn't be any hidden update on the card. Also don't waste money on overpriced U3 card which the Switch ain't taking full advantage of (write speed for 4K).
