Overall, the game seems good. I like it, and don't regret spending $40 on it.
The graphics are nice, way better than anything I've seen on the DS. But it does suffer from poor draw-in distances when there are already lots of characters on the screen. If there are no enemies on the screen, then I can see new enemies appear WAY out in the distance. But if there are already maybe 15 guys on screen, it seems like new guys are popping up from about 20 feet away.
That's something I've noticed with most Warriors games. The draw distance is usually pretty poor. In Warriors Orochi 2 on PSP and Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 on 360 I've noticed that large structures tend to only become visible as you approach them too. It's especially noticable in Warriors Orochi 2 when you're approaching a large door or gate. From a distance you think it's open because you can see right through it, but as you approach it suddenly pops into existence blocking your path.
Once I get immersed in the gameplay it doesn't tend to matter much to me though. My attention is generally focused on the enemies near me that I am slaughtering.

The gameplay seems a bit confusing to me at first, but like I said this is my first warriors game, and I have only played it for maybe 20 minutes. Its a bit hectic with the game giving you missions and telling me what I need to do while I am fighting off enemies. It seems a bit hard to keep it straight, but I'm sure this will be better once I am more familiar with the game.
At first I was excited that the original Japanese dialogue was retained, as I always prefer to enjoy media in its original language when possible. HOWEVER, after actually playing the game, I am now wishing that there were an option for English voices. The problem is that its telling you stuff to do while you are playing the game, so you have to take your attention away from the action in order to read the subtitles and understand what its telling you to do.
Yeah, that's pretty much par for the course in Warriors games. As long as you know what the main objective of the mission is, you can safely ignore all those little instructions most of the time.
They generally only tell you how to win more easily or how to score certain bonuses along the way, at least in the other Warriors games I've played.
I agree that it would probably be a bit easier to keep track of it all if the voices were in english, but I've found that in Warriors Orochi 2 although the voices are in english, a lot of the dialogue and in-mission instructions aren't voiced anyway so I still have to read them if I want to know what's going on.
One feature that helps me with that is the message log that can be found on the pause screen. It hold the last 10 or so messages so I can easily pause the game and check what instructions I missed. Hopefully it's the same in this game.
