I am on sysnand 9.2, old 3ds xl, currently running emunand 10.3. Whenever I try to update to emunand 10.5, i get left at a black screen after booting rxtools. I tried manually installing the update with .cia files, and it worked, but after rebooting, the same problem occured. I've tried many builds of rxtools, but all give the same results. Any ideas?

had the same issue and fixed it by deleting the theme extradata on sd card. must have been some residues of menuhax when i setup my emunand, although im sure i deleted it.

On your SD card, navigate to \Nintendo 3DS\...\...\extdata\00000000 for your emunand. Delete the 000002cd folder (you can make a backup of it first, or rename the folder to something else). If you still black screen when booting into emunand, you can try deleting 0000008f as well.

This is assuming your 3DS region is US. If not, you can look up your extdata IDs: http://3dbrew.org/wiki/Extdata

thanks for the help, but changing my theme in emunand did the trick. I guess menuhax was installed onto both nands and that caused it to crash? Right now I have successfully updated emunand to 10.5, but still have no eshop access ( 022-2634 ), but I dont really care about eshop.

Even better, smash bros would always crash when I exited to the home menu, and I'd have to reboot my entire system. For some reason that issue is gone as well.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?

@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
