I tried unpacking WADs to run WiiWare and N64 games from SD card because my Wii's memory is full and I wanted to ask if this is possible with official WADs.
First I tried with a simple WAD: Backup Loader. I extracted the app files, renamed the ...01.app to boot.dol and started it with HBC. It works.
Then I tried Wild West Guns. Renamed the ...01.app to boot.dol extracted the other app files and moved all extracted files into the new folder, the dol file loads fine but then stays with a black screen. So, could this work in theory or do the dol files need special code to read files from a FAT system which official WADs don't have?
I tried the same with Mario Strikers, extracted the game partition to a Strikers folder in APPS folder, again the dol file boots but it stays with a black screen.
Has anyone tried similar things and suceeded?
