just a few days ago I finished tales of symphonia:dawn of the new world and by god it was the best JRPG I've ever played!

but now there's a big void inside me....something is calling out....I need levels...stats...experience points....I need RPGs!!!

sadly the wii is lacking in that sector...recommend me some RPGs please(western and japanese)
I already have arc rise fantasia but haven't got a chance to get into it and I'm holding out for an undub anyway...

PS!

RPG= game where you level up your character(s) by gaining xp either from fighting monsters and/or doing quests.

fragile dreams I didn't really like that much :/
rune factory is on my to play list

keep'em coming folks!

You could try the shiren the wanderer for wii, but I don't know if you're into nethack, so I wouldn't grab your wallet yet.

Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors
Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Crystal Bearers

Arc Rise Fantasia is the closest you'll get to a "traditional" RPG. Although voice acting is ball-tingling bad.

There's not much that's straight up RPG, most other titles are in a blurred line between RPG and something else.

Well... since you have finished DOTNW, I assume that you have played almost every RPG out there for the GameCube. (if you don’t, I can recommend you a few).

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn (if you like level up things... this is your game) (tactical RPG)
The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princes (some says that it´s not a RPG...)
Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4K8__6DWrF8)
Muramasa (the music is awesome http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZE8h71o3Emw) (Someway, this reminds me Valkyrie Profile)
The Last Story (you will have to wait until his release)
Tales Of Graces (you will have to wait until these guys finish the translation)
Final Fantasy IV The After Years (this is what you call classic "RPG")
Xenoblade (you will have to wait again)

there's also Opoona , which is a mix between RPG (stats/exp points/levels/battles) and animal crossing (everyday mission, like helping people). The game feels graphically like Phantasy Star Online.

Avatar: The Legend Of Aang, more a hack'n'slash view from top like diablo, but there's equipement/stats/exp.
Super paper mario

Not J-RPG, but you may like it too :
Chocobo dungeon : dungeon RPG
One piece: Unlimited Adventure : Adventure, with exp. to master skills. Very big game. maybe better to know the manga/anime first, up to "Water 7" arc.

I dunno if you like Roguelikes, but I was in your position and POWDER filled that very gap. The DS version is also excellent.
BTW, POWDER has graphics, not just ASCII.

Nice list, thanks for helping the guy out

Monster Hunter is also sorta a RPG. Well, it's more of a loot-based hack and slash game. It does have quite the online community though.

And for the Gamecube there's Skies of Arcadia, FFCC, Baten Kaitos or whatever it's called, and so on.

Arc Rise Fantasia is probably the best you can get on the Wii right now.

Great story, fun and decently challenging combat system, and the voice acting isn't bad for people with major roles.
You get used to the voices and they really start to fit the characters. (Hearing Ryfia's voice without knowing what she's like makes it seem terrible, but once you get to know her character you start thinking 'well, it actually really fits').
There are people with minor roles (IE: speak less) that have bad voice acting. Prince Weiss has some kind of gay lisp which is annoying. But the voice acting by no means degrades the experience of the game.

Also, glad you liked DotNW. Most people don't give it the credit it deserves. Despite not being on par with other Tales games, it's still great in general.

Muramasa is a pretty good choice too. It's pretty fun and challenging. I quite enjoyed it, but I did eventually abandon it out of boredom. (you have to do a lot of walking through empty space).

zelda isn't an rpg it's adventure
Technically… is not a RPG. But it has the felling.

muramasa,fire emblem,zelda I've played

shiren the wanderer -not really the kind of game I'd play on the wii...I feel like those games are better suited to the ds

phantom brave is like FF:tactics... could be worth a try

I was actually looking into those final fantasy games...aren't they wiiware though?how long do they last?

valhalla knights seems PERFECT! from what I've seen, you create a character, select class, level up stats and skills with real time combat?!with co-op play?! WOW! why didn't I know of this sooner?

one piece seems nice as well.but do you level up in that one?

opoona wtf? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SceE2nwTPiU

thanks for your help everyone!

i absolutely loved both baiten kaitos games after getting used to the battle system, the graphics and music are beautiful.

xenoblade is getting everybody excited but its jap only atm.

there is an undub version of arc rise fantasia already out if u search around.

im currently playing through monster hunter tri, such an addictive game, and i love the concept of exploring and fighting massive monsters (a bit like shadow of the collossus).

yes I know of the undubed version but sadly I didn't search around much and now I have the standard english version.

monster hunter would have been good if it had levels but everything revolves around picking plants and rocks and stuff to build better items...it's like a single-player MMORPG without the MMO and the RPG
