Free tethering (Not the best unless you have unlimited data)
G S II comes on Gingerbread, where tethering is natively supported anyway.

Anyway, I have a Galaxy S II as well and mine's rooted, with no trouble. It's worth it; on a day to day level the advantages include using AdFree to block ads in some apps I use, for example.
Tethering has been natively supported in android since froyo, all carriers remove it and put in a tethering app from which they can tell you are using the phone for tethering (which they make you pay more for)

The only way you get the native tethering app is through a custom rom or an unlocked phone
Mine's unlocked; would they not be able to tell if I'm tethering that way? I hadn't tried in case they could.

they probably couldn't , tethering is after all using your phone as a modem, I don't think the provider can find out if you don't use their software. You bought the phone unlocked right?

Yep, not tied to a particular carrier; I know they'd be able to sense data traffic spikes, but I have a 500MB allowance per month anyway.

Carriers can't detect tethering without a custom tethering app that signals that the person is tethering, you should be fine with the stock tethering app or any custom rom's tethering app

And the two apps quietly posted are other options, usually used by people with a carrier phone that's rooted and doesn't have a custom rom, because that is their only option

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
