Hacking Rom cart question

Hello,

I know as of right now nothing plays 3ds games etc etc. But my question becomes,now, I sold my old ds and rom cart to a friend of mine, so he now has it. Anyways, it prob wouldn't work in the 3ds. So, I am thinking of getting one [a rom cart] for the 3ds so I can play some DS games, and want to know if the 3ds ever got hacked would It be a possibility for me to update the cart to play 3ds games. And/or as Nemoid (sp?) said would it be a pure hardware solution.

tl;dr: is it worth it to buy a rom cart for the 3ds and if the 3ds ever gets hacked would i be able to update/upgrade the cart to play 3ds games

It's worth it o buy one for 3ds if you haven't updated your 3ds. Only DSTWO and one type of R4 work on the latest 3ds firmware for if you have updated it to that. A STWO is the best option, even know it's 40 bucks.

Sorry to say but the DS mode flashcarts are most likely never going to get an update to work with 3DS roms. You could always just get a cheap DS mode flashcart so that even if a 3DS mode flashcart came out, it would not be that much of a blow to your wallet.

Oh and if money is not a problem, I would buy the Supercard DSTwo. It is the dearest but the best DS flashcart at the moment.
