Hacking Rock Band 3 Saves

So, I plan to order an NTSC copy of RB3 bundled with a keyboard because it's cheaper to buy from US stores (thanks to our Aussie dollar

) instead of the UK. Now I've got GLOBAL's PAL scene release of RB3 and already have progressed a fair bit through the game... is the "rename PAL save to NTSC and transfer via Savegame Manager" method working? I've read that this method is a hit and miss and there's a chance that you can corrupt your save.
Also, does anyone know any US online stores that sell at decent prices that ship internationally?

Because I'd like to own a legitimate copy of RB3. Plus, it's cheaper if I buy it bundled with a keyboard...
