for nands/channels you have 3 choices for the buttons source= line.

source=emunand //view emunand channels
source=realnand //view real nand channels
source=bothnand //view both real nand and emunand channels

notice no spaces.

OK, thanks. I suppose it's the way it has to work. A source button is pressed, you then alter the channels tier setting to match it and then load the channels tier.

I must say, it's a bit confusing that you have 5 tiers between which you can move with a single UI button, but the 5th tier can effectively contain lots of other tiers between which you move differently. But that said, it's an incredibly flexible system. Even when I sound negative, please know that I often sit and contemplate the work you and others do. You are a producer and I am a lowly consumer. You win, Sir.

my way - so a nand source menu button automatically sets/changes the 'channels type' setting found in main settings based on the source= line. so if you have it channels type set to real nand and you don't want it to change then you need to alter the source= line for that nand button to match.

your way - I get the feeling in your mind there should only be one option for the source= line - for example source=nand. and then when you click it it will use the channels type setting to determine what type of channels are shown. not a bad idea but unfortunately when i coded it i chose my way since some people like to use the source menu for everything and don't like to have to mess with a setting in main settings.

@Tetsuo Shima

I have a question about coverflows for plugins. Can they be changed? I don't like the bookshelf coverflow of the retro consoles plugins. A more flat coverflow would be better for me. Is it a case of simply altering an ini file, or are plugin coverflows just hardcoded?

Also, if you choose to show BOTH real NAND and EmuNAND items together in the WiiFlow settings, the background says "Real NAND" (NAND.png). Is that because WiiFlow only supports two background files even though there are three options in the setting: "Real NAND", "EmuNAND" and "Both". If it does support three background pictures, could you tell me the required name of the third background file if you know it? I can obviously edit your NAND.png file for now to make the title say "Both NANDS" or something. But next time you release an update it would be cool to include an official, good-looking PNG file - BOTHNANDS.png. We can then rename it NAND.bin if WiiFlow strangely only supports two backgrounds for a 3-way setting.

Thanks!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tetsuo Shima replied: "Coverflows are not hardcoded. You can change them as you wish, by going to Wiiflow Settings page 2 --> Adjust coverflow.
Coverflows are stored in an .ini file inside wiiflow/themes_lite/coverflows.
'Default.ini' is for coverflows with the default theme, while 'Rhapsodii Shima.ini' is for coverflows with my theme.

I only recently discovered the bothnands thing. I believe that a background named bothnands.png would work for your case.
TBH, I don't get why someone should need both nands, when you can just put everything on emunand and never use real nand anymore (which btw has a huge limit in space and slowly deteriorates every time you use it).
Well, in all truth, Real Nand would still be used for Wii savegames, but that is so much less wear and tear than making full use of it."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

@Tetsuo Shima Are you sure that the Adjust coverflow functionality allows you to change from a bookshelf coverflow to, for example, the default Wii games coverflow (not a bookshelf, more like games lying flat on a table)? It is my understanding that Adjust coverflow only allows you to adjust some superficial things about the coverflow, e.g. how far away the camera is. The general layout style of a particular coverflow and the behaviour of its covers when you cycle through them (the Wii covers rotate 360 degreea on the Y axis) is surely hard-coded and cannot be altered in the Adjust coverflow screen.

To make the question simple, how would I make all my tiers' coverflows (including for example the Mega Drive plugin) match the Wii games coverflow's fundamental layout and behaviour?

Re. the 100% EmuNAND idea, that's fine if you can get neek2o working properly. I have a single game on my real NAND - Majora's Mask. I'm not convinced that the NAND would wear out in my lifetime.

Thanks.

@NormalMisha Adjust coverflow is really what you need, believe me. Evereything you see in my theme was created with adjust coverflow, including animations or the "hyperspin" tier. The PC coverflow (dosbox, scummvm, PC ports..) is perhaps the more similar to what you mentioned, with the left games lying on the table and the right ones in bookshelf.
You just have to click on the left and right arrows on the top black bar, to change from "camera" to many other settings.
You have to experiment a little with it, there are so many settings, but after some time you begin to understand how it works.

There's a quick way to do it. You can press B+1 to copy the whole coverflow and B+2 to paste coverflow, to match everything with the Wii coverflow.

Of course not for a single game. I now realize that you use MM on real Nand because neek2o doesn't work.
I thought you fixed your issue after installing the nswitch channel on emunand.

The issue with neek2o is that neek2o doesn't work with my 2.5" hard drive enclosure (3rd party generic). I tested the hard drive in a very old 3.5" enclosure with it's own dedicated power supply and neek2o works with that enclosure. SD worked too. It's very bizarre that neek2o is so fussy about this.

Do you have your EmuNAND on SD or USB?

That sounds good about the copy coverflow feature. I'm not sure where I am supposed to perform the copy, but I'll mess around with it.

Cheers.

I had a problem with neekw2o and a Maxtor Usb Hdd. It refused to work with that Hdd, no matter what I tried. I believe the problem was the physical cluster size, as Cyan suggested, and there was nothing to do about it.
I'm using a 1Tb Toshiba Canvio Basics with no additional power supply and everything is working good.

Edit:

Go to Wii cf and copy, then go in your plugin cf and paste

In my case the same hard drive (which I bought separately as a normal bare hard drive), works with NEEK if it's in one of my USB enclosures but not if it's in my other USB enclosure (the one I need to use!). I don't know enough about USB-to-SATA boards or NEEK to understand how that is possible.

then in your case I believe it can be a power issue

Are you sure about this? It doesn't seem to work. I go to the Wii tier, enter the settings, go to page 2, go to Adjust Coverflow, find the coverflow I want to copy, press B+1 (nothing appears on screen), exit Adjust Coverflow, go to the Plugins tier, enter Adjust Coverflow, press B+2 and nothing happens.

Why is there only 1 available coverflow in the plugins tier but three in the Wii, GameCube and EmuNAND tiers? I don't really understand this coverflow stuff at all. Can I copy coverflows by copying files on the HDD instead?

Which files store the coverflow? To be honest I only want one coverflow available for each tier, and I want it to be the same one (not sure how that works with SNES and N64 covers which must be rotated 90 degrees).

Yeah or it's a USB3 issue, as the enclosure that doesn't work is USB3.

I've just tried a cheap 2.5" USB2 enclosure (single USB cable) and neek2o works fine. Bizarre. Well I say fine, the game says that my memory is full so I can't create a game save.

So maybe USB3 controllers are the issue here.

No you don't have to do it from Adjust Coverflow.
It's really simple:
Just open your Wii coverflow, where you see the games.
press B+1
Then go to a plugins coverflow (e.g. Megadrive)
press B+2
Your Megadrive coverflow will match the Wii coverflow.

Why is there only 1 available coverflow in the plugins tier but three in the Wii, GameCube and EmuNAND tiers? I don't really understand this coverflow stuff at all. Can I copy coverflows by copying files on the HDD instead?
Because I decided to have it this way. Wii, GC and Nand all use covers with the same spine size, but I wanted to differentiate them with three different covers layouts.
Which files store the coverflow?
I already told ya:
Coverflows are stored in an .ini file inside wiiflow/themes_lite/coverflows.
'Default.ini' is for coverflows with the default theme, while 'Rhapsodii Shima.ini' is for coverflows with my theme.
The .ini file contains ALL the coverflows, just open it.
For example this is the part that concerns the 3 Wii coverflows:

As you can see in the 1st section there's 'number_of_modes=3'
Namely they are:
[_COVERFLOW_1]
[_COVERFLOW_2]
[_COVERFLOW_3]
That's for the normal position
But when you select a cover their layout will be taken from:
[_COVERFLOW_1_S]
[_COVERFLOW_2_S]
[_COVERFLOW_3_S]
This is only the Wii/GC/Nand part, to know the other coverflows names for your plugins, you have to open 'platform.ini' in wiiflow/plugins_data, scroll down to the [FLOWS] section and you'll see them all.

There's a quick way to do it. You can press B+1 to copy the whole coverflow and B+2 to paste coverflow, to match everything with the Wii coverflow.

That definitively doesn't work on my WiiFlow version (5.4.9). It merely changes the current coverflow and then takes me to the source menu (i.e. button 1 and button B's actions). Maybe you have a special version of WiiFlow, you lucky devil.

My bad, I remembered it wrong. I did not used this feature in about 1 year
Unfortunately the copy/paste feature cannot serve your purpose.
Just for the record, here's how it works:
you can only copy/paste settings within the same "domains"
for example, the domain _coverflow (used for Wii/GC/Nand) has the 3 different layouts we were talking about.
You can only copy/paste between these three.
Go to Adjust Coverflow (you were right about it) then press B+1. Unfortunately there won't be any message saying that you successfully saved the coverflow, but if you switch to the next layout (clicking on the number at the top-left of the screen) and press B+2, the entire coverflow will be pasted over it.

OK, so just to be clear, it is technically impossible (even editing the INI files) to make ROM covers flow like, for example, the default Wii coverflow (a very simple flat horizontal flow, the cover rotates on the Y axis but that is not needed)?

Thanks.

yes, you could edit platform.ini scroll down to the [FLOWS] section and use _coverflow for every platform. However this is not a clean solution, because each time you update either wiiflow, my theme or the plugins pack, your edited platform.ini file would be overwritten by the default one.

I'm pretty sure your problem lies in the source_menu magic numbers. My theme includes its own source menu, separate from the one used by the default theme.
Check if the magic numbers are pointing to the right plugins.
are you using the plugins pack as well?
if it crashes when you link the button maybe you have multiple plugins with the same magic number

if what I think is right, the source menu's magic numbers from my theme are pointing to plugins with a different coverfolder than the one that actually contains your covers.
In wiiflow, go to your desired coverflow (e.g. snes) press home on the wiimote and click on 'select plugins'. The snes plugin you're using is the one with a green check mark.
Take note of the plugin name, then from your pc open the corresponding ini file in wiiflow/plugins and check if the coverfolder path is right.
If you see more than one checkmarks, it means that you have 2 snes plugins with the same magic number, which creates a conflict. If you use my plugins pack there will be no such conflicts.
