Does anyone have an experience using a link cable with the Revo K101?

I have a K101 and an original GBA, I also have an original Pokemon Emerald cart. I was hoping to run a Pokemon Emerald ROM from the k-card on the K101, so I could evolve trade pokemon on my original GBA and cart.

However the K101 and GBA can't seem to communicate. I also tried running Mario Kart Super Circuit on the K101 k-card in the 1 pac mode, but that doesn't seem to work either. And yes, I am using a specific GBA link cable, though its a cheap $7 one from ebay.

This video seems to show 3x K101 and a GBA playing Super Circuit:

I have an old 4-player GBA Link cable from Pelican, I think. Playing Mario Kart Super Circuit in single- or multi-pak mode works just fine between various different GBA Models, including the REVO K101+ (even using the K-card). Also worked fine when linking my e-reader to Super Mario Advance 4.

The only thing I need to pay attention is the numbering on the cable, each of the 4 ends is labeled with a specific player number (1-4). When playing two-player I need to make sure that I use the ends labeled 1 and 2. Either check if your cable has a similar numbering (if it's a 4-way cable). If that's not working, the cable might be broken.

Hmm, ok. I'll order a 4 way branded cable, in case that has anything to do with it.

At least I know it should be possible. Thanks!
