I cannot discuss this movie without bringing up my post here. I think Silent Hill 2 is a tough game to adapt because much of the tension is through the gameplay. It's obvious that they're adding a bunch of characters to help explain the circumstances and scenario, but I wonder if a simpler, indie approach would have been better.

Still, I cannot review a movie I haven't seen. I know Hollywood will put its own spin on it, but I'm hoping for something that's respectful to the series.

Pyramid face.

I'll wait until I catch it in theatres this month. Didn't care much for the first silent hill movie.

Huge, HUGE SH fan. Absolutely adore the first movie. Second one sucked. New one has the same director and co-writer as the first so I'm pretty hopeful.

Yeah same here brotha. I love silent hill, have you tried forbidden siren yet? I never played the siren series before was wondering if its as good as silent hill or resident evil. I hope the return to silent hill movie is great I actually have high hope for it. Just by looking at the trailer for it, it does look really impressive.

I have played all of the Siren games & love them. It's hard to compare with RE & SH as they are all very different experience. Closer to SH, but still quite different. The Forbidden Siren/Siren series is more mission based with objectives, split into non-chronological order chapters controlling several different characters. I'd say the graphics style/art style is one of the main reasons to play. Very unique, crazy facial animations using faces from real actors.

The first one is a good deal more difficult that the others. The 2nd one significantly improved game-play (but that's not saying the 1st is bad at all) and had qol improvements like a difficulty setting & the option for original JP vo w/ subs or English dub. The third is a re-imagining of the first with very large story changes and different characters. It's also more appealing to western audiences, more action oriented, and has an easier to comprehend story. USA versions of the first and third games are censored so I would recommend playing the PAL version of the first and the Asian version of the third called Siren: New Translation instead of Siren: Blood Curse. The cross-gen PS4/PS5 version of the first game on PSN is a good way to play it as you can switch regions from NTSC to PAL in the settings to play the uncensored version. It also added save-states & rewinding which are a HUGE welcome because that first one can be pretty darn tough.

Have you played Slitterhead? I really enjoy that game a lot and it has some kinda similar mechanics as the Siren games. Done by the same guy (Keiichiro Toyama) that created Silent Hill, Siren, and Gravity Rush.

Have not played slitterhead or heard of it. I did google it just now to take a look up of it. It looks different from your usual horror gaming fare but people seem to love it on steam. Would you say that Forbidden Siren is as scary as silent hill 2 remake? Never got the chance to play Siren before but I have heard from multiple people that the controls are clunky but its still a highly enjoyable game. Thanks for the write up as I'm going to have to check out the Siren series now. How come the game was censored? I also did play some of the fatal frame games those were very good.

Fatal Frame/Project Zero is my all time favorite horror game series. I would say Siren is not as scary as the SH2 remake. Censorship in the games was editing and removal of brief scenes involving violence and suicide. Also age changes to some of the characters.

Yes fatal frame is awesome. Haven't had the chance to play the newer games but will when I get the chance. How was mask of the lunar eclipse?

I kinda love all Fatal Frame games equally, except for the 3DS spin-off . I've never played the mobile game spin-off as it was only ever released in Japan. The remaster of Lunar Eclipse is far better than the original Wii version due to better controls, revamped graphics, completely new character models, etc.

On the other hand, I much prefer the original version of Maiden of Black Water on the Wii U over the remaster. That remaster didn't get the same treatment and is mostly just an upscale. But the reason I like it more on the Wii U is due to the use of the Wii U tablet. It acts as a completely separate screen and is used as the camera. You play using both screens, whereas the remaster you only play on one screen... even on the Switch. But... not everyone agrees on that. Some like not having to hold up the Wii U pad and move it around like you''re using a camera.

Ah, thanks for helping me with this. Does the PC version of mask of lunar eclipse have artwork or soundtrack that comes with it? So Maiden of black water is a much more solid game than Lunar Eclipse?

Getting excited to see Return To Silent Hill. The trailer looks somewhat promising. Of course there are differences from the movie and SH2 from what we are seeing in the trailer. They should of had Jeremy Irvine with blonde hair and M-65 Jacket the same jacket that James Sunderland wears in silent hill 2 or SH2 remake. I still have yet to play Silent Hill F I heard nothing but good reviews about it though. How is the game if anyone here played it?

Anyone here see Return To Silent Hill? I heard it was awful and worse than the original silent hill movie.
Yes it is as BAD as everyone is saying...They got the director for the original movie to do this one, and still somehow managed to put out something even worse than the second movie...I won't get into the poorly done CGI/botched character plots but I remember the moment I saw in the theatre that opening scene with James, sporting a 90's mullet and wearing a leather jacket, while driving an open-top car, I just had to say to myself "That's not James!"

I hear that. Well for me I pirated a copy of it early just because I didn't want to watch it in theatres cause I knew from reviews that it was bad. I just had to see what all the fuss was about. And oh boy... they really destroyed sh 2 with this one. This should have been an easy game to film adaptation what could have been gotten easily 7s and 8s on imdb. Not sure what the director was thinking but this was awful beyond words.
