any idea where should i put PPSSPP folder and its assets? and also the PSP/SAVEDATA folder?

I've tried

retroarch/system/
retroarch/cores/system
retroarch/roms

none work.

for other core, e.g., PCSX rearmed, the one that works was
retroarch/cores/system.
...From the official libretro docs.
1 . Create a directory named PPSSPP in RetroArch's System directory.

RetroArch/
└── system/
└── PPSSPP/
More detailed info here - https://docs.libretro.com/library/ppsspp/
And make sure your bios directory is set correctly in directory settings.

as for PSP/SAVEDATA its on
retroarch/cores/savefiles/

Issue? There was no issue, you just had look at your directory settings inside RA and place the assets in your "bios folder" directory. For example i still keep my bios directory in retroarch/system. This stuff is configurable to your preferences...

@m4xw is this true?

You are against USB support in RetroArch?
What's the point here?
Especially cores for 3DS, Dreamcast, PS* and so one (but Arcade as well) may have very big file sized games while we're already three years into the Switch lifetime and the console is hardly limited by the fact it can only use SD cards.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who have to delete old Switch games from the card when I buy new ones.
Having at least the ability to put RetroArch assets/roms on the SD card would help a lot here.
The Wii U port allows this as well. Also literally any other port where the host sytem allows USB access (Wii, PC, PS*, XB*)

What is the current up to date version of retroarch the application, and does this make a big difference, or is the more important thing just keeping cores etc up to date?

I think it's been said before.
Unless Atmosphere itself implements some sort of USB on their, they won't add it to RetroArch.

Just wanted to point that out. I'm not interested in forcing anyone to use the library, though, nor in creating any fork(s) myself. Every dev should be free to adopt/use whatever they want, just as I said there - and I'll stand by that point.

I did this mostly for fun and for nxdumptool anyway, not much more than that.

Anyone able to run RA 1.9 on SX OS 3.1? I'm running into issues where RA will randomly crash just moving about in the menus. Trying to load anything with the mame 2003 core just gives a black screen. Other cores work but then crash.

Running 10.2 FW

Yeah I did saw that message.

Seems like the real drawback is:
1) Maintainability
2) Supposedly piracy (?), even though I dare say that the SD being prone to corruption (even as FAT32) is a good enough reason on its own to enable USB support. I had it happen twice to me already, and it's a shore when it happens, as I know it's 100% guaranteed to be a whole day process for me due to my PCs only having USB 2.0 for transfers.

Hi! is there a motivation for retroarch to stop releasing nightlies?
Last one on https://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/nintendo/switch/libnx/ seems to be from one month ago.
Thank you

The last related tweet they sent says that their buildbot won't serve updates to cores until they finish migrating to the newer server infrastructure, ETA unknown but they mention trying to get it done by Christmas.

What is the current up to date version of retroarch the application, and does this make a big difference, or is the more important thing just keeping cores etc up to date?

Newer RA versions come with bugfixes and additions to the frontend, which doesn't necessarily mean that games are emulated better, core updates take care of that, but they do provide some nice things to use every now and again, plus, I've been using RA for years now on PC, and believe me when I say that it used to crash a lot more in the past, just for that alone I'd recommend updating.

In general, I'd encourage you to update RA itself whenever there's a new stable and the cores every other week (Well, when they fix the buildbot that is, no point in updating cores for now).
