Thanks @m4xw It's handy having the nsp.
Its updated already btw
I prefer using the NSP over Atmosphere's redirect because it is easier. Not to be a nag, but any reason you aren't accepting bug reports using the NSP? It is legit the only NSP I have installed on my Switch.
Updated the link in the OP so that it points directly to the newest NSP.
It should now point to the Stable 1.7.6 NSP, which got updated today, Feb. 5th :)

Where can I get. Dat files from to go in playlist buddy
Also tried scanning mame Roms but they don't show up anywhere in content
And where can I download mame2003 compatible killer instinct and it's chd file as the one I have mustn't be compatible as it crashes as mentioned buy other poster on page 205
Thank you

You've been here nearly 10 years, you should know by now you can't ask for pirated material.

So instead of redirecting, we can use the nsp now?
Edit: was referring about using it for the n64 core, so wrong thread. Sorry

The downside to your plan would be you wouldn't have a way to run homebrew menu to load other homebrew, but if you're fully dedicated to retroarch then go for it
Thx for the reply. Unfortunately that's not acceptable as I still need the full RAM access for other homebrews like Doom.
Is there really no way to have a RetroArch icon on my homescreen that somehow runs RetroArch without any downsides?

I can't think of any way that would currently work, tho am happy to be corrected if I've missed anything.
Apart from maybe patching Atmosphere to do title replacement for multiple titles to different nros, another possible route might be to make hbloader accept arguments, then you could have a custom nsp that would run the replaced title and tell hbloader what nro to run instead of hbmenu. I don't know if that would work, if it would avoid whatever problems are caused by running retroarch as an nsp, etc. Maybe someone smarter can comment.

You can always make forwarders for each of your homebrew apps with nro2nsp, or make a forwarder that points to the actual homebrew nro.

But there's some issue @m4xw has encountered when running retroarch from nsp, as opposed to title replacement - so would these forwarder nsps not have the same issue?

DAT files should come along with your arcade rom sets. If not, try another source or google for the separated DAT file.
Also scanning MAME or FB Alpha roms from within RetroArch doesn't work if that's what you asked for.

I guess so? There are issues with when loading retroarch via nsp, however i haven't heard of any issues for other homebrew. That's not say issues don't exist of course.

But that's the only suggestion that i can think of.

Yeah, while I'm aware of that option I too remember m4xw said something about that. He had his reasons not to make an official forwarder NSP back then but did native NSPs instead when he upstreamed RetroNX to RetroArch although I forgot the exact reason.

How did you get it working? As soon as I click the game, it just closes out RetroArch with an error. I'm using the NSP version, i'm on 6.2 firmware. I have MAME 2000, MAME 2003, MAME 2003-Next and none of them let me load it without crashing out

EDIT: needed to update my ROM...apparently it needs the MAME2003 ROM of KI and KI.chd....
Where did you get this Rom from
Thanks

looks like N64 crashes on 1.7.6 stable and last nightly from Feb 5. tried on SXOS and atmosphere with atmosphere being worse than SX. Retroarch freezes when i load it on atmosphere.

I'm using 6.2.0, fat32, latest sxos, latest kosmos sd files (both stable and bleeding edge were tried). also a clean install of retroarch, deleted everything in the retroarch folder and then re-added.

I can think of 6 things that u fuck up.
Use atmosphere title replacement or you will have a hard time.

@m4xw can I give you a big hug and thank you for making Mario 64 so perfect to play on the nsw, it’s my all time favourite game and to be able to play it so smoothly with the latest nightlys is just a dream thanks again loads of luv & respect!

I've installed like 30 forwarder nsps and haven't had one issue. I don't believe forwarding a game is the same as using Retroarch nsp, but I've also used Retroarch nsp and not had issues.

I'm having the same issue, but i never used atmosphere. N64 was working great for the last build. Not sure what I did wrong though. I removed all the old files and replaced with the new. Any suggestions? Thanks and sorry I'm a noob :p

He's said throughout the thread that the Atmosphere method (and now Hekate method) are the only official methods. So if you have problems using another method he's not going to help.

Edit: I was thinking this was the N64 thread I was posting in, so I'm not sure if the same thing applies for just Retroarch.
