I have installed the OCT 28th.nsp

When I try to exit using Main Men>Quit RetroArch the program exits, but then is immediately restarted/reloaded without booting back to switch home screen. Is this a bug or a setting that I missed?

Where is BeetlePsx Core??? Im pissed
You have PCSX ReARMed, why would you want Beetle PSX?
PCSX is optimized from the get-go for ARM architectures, hence the name ReARMed, which the Switch has (AArch64/ARMv8)
Beetle PSX doesn't have good optimization with ARM architectures, so even if you had that core, it wouldn't run as good as PCSX does on the Switch.

To put a finer point on it, a lot of people are putting in hard work so that we can play classic games on our Switches. How cool is that? Don't whine just because it isn't how you want it.

How can I force the PSX core to use the PSP PSX bios? There are BIOS in my system folder (even the normal stock ones from various regions) but when I load a game it says in yellow no BIOS found. Also I can't get Tony Hawk 3 to load. I just beat Tony Hawk 2.
What i did was I renamed the PSP PSX BIOS to the same name as the ps1 bios, which i believe was 'SCPH1001.BIN' and i left only this file inside the BIOS folder (by default it is the 'retroarch/cores/system' folder, but this can be changed in the system preferences within Retroarch). I believe it is case sensitive. Once i did this games started working A LOT better and the yellow message saying 'No BIOS found' stopped popping up.
Its not perfect tho. Sometimes i get an error where roms refuse to load. In that case i try loading the core first, then the rom, and it seems to help.

That is normal. You can then close Retroarch simply by pressing the Home button and quit software.

I'm having a ton of trouble figuring out how to use cheats with the ps1 core. I see a cheats folder on my sd within retroarch, and have tried every method under the sun, but I just cannot get any cheat files of any kind to work. If it matters, I'm trying for Castlevania Symphony of the Night.

Use PCSXReARMed instead, why would you want a slower emulator like BeetlePSX?
Because only reason Rayman works on BeetlePsx in RetroNX before Retroarch took over RetroNX now it not working I have been fighting to get it work in every formats once it worked in pbp format on beetlepsx. So u tell me rearmed psx not work on Rayman right huh?

How the hell do I know? Beggars can't be choosers, either you wait till it's further optimized for ARM or you freaking deal with it and play it on a slower emulator. Boo hoo. Either be patient or deal with it.

I'll give that a shot. Thank you.

I installed the nsp version but no cores came with it. I prefer to not install them connecting to internet. Is it possible to install them offline in nsp version?

Its like watching a staged failure in slow motion. When I said you have links in the first posting to packages that come with the most current cores already included, I didnt mean the 300kb nsp that doesnt.

Also - there is still no reason to install the nsp version over the nro version, as without overclock currently N64 emulation isnt close to fullspeed anyway. (With overclock it would be, N64 emulation needs more ram, you can do that in Atmosphere via the launch ini (define an already installed NSP), or by installing the NSP.)

What you are doing is doing no research at all, then refusing to use any prepackaged packages at all (based on nros), then go with the most stripped down version of retroarch that requires you to download everything. Then proclaim - I want to have it all, but not download anything.

Can you see how that would be incredibly frustrating to "support" every step of the way? In theory you could use the nsp and then copy the core nros from a package into the correct location, but talking about trying to wedge through an idea that makes absolutely no sense...

BeetlePsx = 4 fps max..

I am sorry but

what I did was just reading first post that says installing nsp is recommended way. Just below you can read that it is possible to download core directly from nsp itself. At this point comes my question: just asked if it was possible to install core offline.
I was asking about nsp, not nro which you clarified in your previous post

I still can't get Tony Hawk 3 to load in the PSX core. Even tried the European version. Got the PSX on PSP bios to load though which seems like an improvement for Tony Hawk 2.

I've been playing THPS3 ever since RetroNX had PCSX. No clue what could be giving you grief with that game when it works for others.

The nsp is basically a forwarder, you still need the retroarch folder on your SD card (you get that by downloading I.E. One of the latest nightly build)

The nsp is not a forwarder (made the mistake to call it that before ;) ). Its the thing. (The retroarch "nro content" is in the nsp.) Thats why you can get a full retroarch installation going, just installing the nsp, and then downloading all the other required files from withing the nsp.

Its just that retroarch uses all kinds of other files (assets, cores as nros, database files, ...) stored on your sdcard. You can get them either from full packages, or by downloading them through the updater routines.

The full packages you can download already contain everything in them (nro based, no nsp), but you can also go the route to download the nsp, and then use the downloaders within it, to download everything else (advanced user, you've to know - how to do that in retroarch, probably no youtube video available).

But to go with the nsp (not full package) on purpose, and then refuse to download anything - takes a special kind of person, that can grasp failure from the verge of success, reliably.

But then they thought about not wanting to go online, because they dont want to be banned, so I can respect that. Thats more thought than most users put into it.
