I downloaded RetroArch from the website, my bad. The link in the first post to the nightly build removed the warning.

The problem is more likely the outdated cores. RetroArch Nightly works perfectly fine otherwise, it's just that some of the cores are outdated and cause crashes

the current pscx-rearmed core does not work or the problem is on my end?, i'm getting "The software was closed because an error ocurred" when launching any psx game. Edit -> I fix it by using the core present in the 2026-02-14_RetroArch build

I tried searching this thread for more info about shaders, but couldn't find much. Is there an actual best GBA shader?

So far I've been using zfast_lcd. The color looks great but I'd kind want to reduce the gamma a bit, maybe to 0.75 or 0.5, but I can't. Any other shader that's similar to it that'll allow me to do this?

I mainly play in portable, right now playing Pokemon Unbound and having an amazing time. Aria of Sorrow and the Megaman Zero games look good with this shader too.
