Can gambatte read external palette files? Where should I pult the default.pal? cores/system?

EDIT: Yeah, they're supported. Palettes should go on cores/system/palettes

The reason that was possible on the DS was, imo, because emulators on the DS took advantage of its 2D hardware to offload graphic processing, something the 3DS doesn't have (to our knowledge), so it either has to handle that via software or attempt to use the 3D GPU to do it, the latter lacking many key features that would reduce the load to replicate the visuals. For as much as blargSNES does well with hardware-rendering, it's still requires a lot from the CPU to pull off, and the results aren't perfect.
I haven't been able to get All-Stars to run on CatSFC (controls completely go out after selecting a game), but at least I get 100% consistent speeds with Super Mario World on blargSNES. It's perfect to my standards after almost an hour of consistently playing.

super mario world was capable of running at 60fps at all times on the original DS so if it doesn't get to that point eventually i'm gonna be really disappointed :P
So we're already to that point, really. I don't know why you're complaining...

Read the post above the one you're quoting :P

i am not complaining, I know stuff takes time. i am just far too blunt for my own good.

i'm not huge on blargsnes because it's missing some stuff that i really, really like to have in an emulator last time i checked

@ubergeek77 did you test this ??
Yes I did! It sounds great, and it's just a tad bit slower than the main build when I tested Chrono Trigger. I'm getting about 55-58fps with this build. Main build of catSFC (9-16-15, cia version) ran it at more or less full speed (59.8-60fps). This is the .cia version.

Edit: I'm not sure if I'm getting accurate results. If I boot straight to the game without doing anything else, the framerate is anywhere from 60 to 40 during the intro, and then about 45-50 depending on the area. But if I press the touch screen to pause the game just once, the framerate instantly picks up to full speed after I unpause. Although, it could also be that the framerate gradually speeds up to full speed after playing for about two minutes - maybe it's building some kind of cache? At least for the moment it seems to be running just as fast as the main build, with the added bonus of accurate sound emulation - thanks! :yaynds:

(Sorry for the inconclusive results; if you'd like me to test another game or look for something specific, just let me know)

Edit2: Here's something concrete: if I cold-boot the emulator, the title screen is SUPER laggy. But if I open and close the RetroArch menu for a split second before/during the title screen, even after a cold boot, I no longer experience lag. I wonder why that is.

55fps ? wow I expected less. the normal CATSFC build is generally 50% or so faster.
I'll add it to the nightlies then.

Getting mostly full speed from Earthbound too, although that weird opening/closing the menu thing doesn't apply here. Although when setting up a new game, it did dip a little bit when selecting audio options, but the first few minutes of the game seem to be in full speed with this build. Haven't gotten in a battle yet though.

You really expected it to be slower? I wonder why - it seems like a solid build.

(And I promise I'm not accidentally using the old build, I compared the title screen music for both games against other emulators to make sure this one had the fixed sound)

I have a question, guys.
So now .cia works very fast on n3ds but this is because of the dynarec on and clock speed up?
This is like an overclock of the N3DS CPU? It is dangerous for the hardware if it runs non stop for an hour or something?

Are the ZL and ZR buttons and the C-stick supposed to work yet? Because they don't.

EDIT: Here's their values from ctrulib if that makes it any easier.

"KEY_CSTICK_RIGHT", "KEY_CSTICK_LEFT", "KEY_CSTICK_UP", "KEY_CSTICK_DOWN",

"KEY_ZL", "KEY_ZR",

It's not overclocking, it's the officially supported higher clock speed of the n3ds, so no danger.

Ok. So maybe it's risky for O3DS users to use those? Well anyway it's not fullspeed for them so it doesn't really matter I guess.
Thank you for your answer! ;)

Is there a trick to getting Picodrive running, or is it just a matter of finding the games that are compatible? I haven't gotten it to start any games on New 3DS/ninjhax 2.1. It seems to lock up after displaying RetroArch [INFO] :: Environ SET_DISK CONTROL_INTERFACE for every title I've launched.

Is there any way to make a game save file (.srm) from the SNES9x core work with catsfc? I have a save from another computer that I wanted to use with this, but the catfsc core refuses to see it. The SNES9x core works fine with it, but is quite a bit slower. :\

Just pointing this out in case anybody didn't realise - the Retroarch cores actually support .zip roms. Most 3DS emulators don't so this is nice. Some of those GBA roms go down to a 1/3 the size.

Be careful with that though - I've loaded zipped ROMs before, but there's a slim chance the emulator will hard freeze (and say "cannot push null or empty core...") when trying to load it. I've not had such a problem with unzipped ROMs.

Hey, so noobie wii modderhere, with an already hacked wii from my brother with homebrew channel ands hitand d2x cIOS installer, so i was trying to run some old wii games i lost off of USB Loader GX, im aware that your supposed to use a usb drive, but currently the only drive i have is used for steam games and personal stuff so i'm gonna try running them off a 32 GB Fat32 SD Card that i use for all the wii mods i have, but when i try and launch skyward sword from usb loader gx, it goes black for a second then sends me back to homebrew channel? i just looked for guides on here and saw one that said to install CiOS v8 Final Base 57 onto slot 49? but it still does the same even after i do that
