So I have an Old 3ds (US) in ver. 10.3.0-28, I wanted to get into the homebrew launcher through the browser but I already got a nag that keeps saying I need to update, and I got it before reading up on any way to avoid it.

I heard of a way that I can get in without it if i connect to a certain DNS server, but apparently that doesn't work if I already tried and got the nag. I thought of formatting, but when i did, it said it needs internet.

Why would it need that? The update is already downloaded I think it keeps saying the 3DS is ready for an update. If I format (restore factory settings) would the system automatically update? I don't want to do anything unless i'm sure first, don't want to screw up more than I already did.

The 3DS won't update if you format. The internet is just needed to tell Nintendo's servers to unlink the NNID from the console.

Thanks man. Just got into the homebrew launcher and installed menuhax.

You're welcome!~ you can continue the guide to set up an emuNAND with menuhax which is ideal if you don't want to plunge into the A9LH set up although its very brick-free little risk, apart from common user error. Luma3DS is best for you in that case :)

To set up an emuNAND i'd need to downgrade right? What does Luma3DS do?
