You relize all you need is a legit cia of a nes game, legit cia install works on 10.3
Ahem.
DISCLAIMER: This is a VERY unstable build of FBI. Even though there are no reports of anybody bricking their 3DS' while doing this, there is still a chance of bricking your 3DS while doing this. So, I'm not responsible for any damage whatsoever if something DOES happen to your 3DS.

I love how you assume i have a 3DS thats not 10.3 and you dont even ask...
My 3DS is 10.3 and no i will not downgrade because im not gonna take a risk in bricking my console.
i love how you assume that i assumed. no matter what, your 3ds is hackable.
but ok, you are scared of making a mistake. if you are not confiden, don't downgrade now. wait.

there is no legit preinstalled nes game.

also, why not buy the cheapest nes game on the eshop?

There's no nes legit cia. I would also like to see an example of a retroarch rom shortcut xml file. Could someone show how it's done?

ok, i can understand your situation. maybe go to a game shop and get like a $10 eshop card or something, if you really want this :)
if not, start learning how to set up the stuff to compile.
learn python it's fun. good luck

Going to "Settings -> Directory ->File Browser Dir." and then setting it to the folder your games are sort of allows for an instant bootup (as the file browser will default there). All that it does is require an additional button press or two.

I'll admit, I'm having some issues figuring out the instant bootup option myself, but this is a pretty decent alternative if you just put your ROM hack in a folder inside itself called "ROM Hack" or something similar.

EDIT: Apparently I don't believe Retroarch has an instant ROM bootup feature. This alternative or the XML solution suggested earlier might be the best course of action here.

You don't seem like you have much confidence, why would someone go out of their way to program something before you even have a romhack finished. They would be risking their time on something that may or may not ever get done.

It would be a better idea to finish your project BEFORE making a thread like this.
I mean, not to beat a dead horse, but you make these request threads bi-daily. Whos going to take you serious enough to help you out?

Whats worse is rom hacks doesnt work well in 3ds emulators , it was said by the developers to just use them on pc

explained it in theory with a non retroarch example.
Using the bit of information from the retroarch github issue
only the fullpath to the content file is supported, adding more arguments will not work since the loader doesn't properly split them in an argv array when reading the shortcut .
I'd assume you just directly reference the rom file path in the <arg> area

You want to learn how to code and create homebrew, but you won't take the steps to learn how the console works? Also, you can't buy anything on your devices?

Look, this will come off as rude, but just give up. You clearly do not have the drive to do this. You come in hoping someone will create an autoboot emulator (kind of confuses me as to why) and then get pissy when people tell you to look up how?

It's not the hardest thing to learn or look up a good starting point. We are not here to do this for you.

The attitude in this thread from someone asking help is unbelievable.. I'm almost 40 years old, so what I'm going to say has some credibility behind it... grow up!
I've taken the time to properly read everything and try it with success and so have many other people on this site.
You can't expect to ask for something like an ass and expect to have it done in a second.
Read up on this stuff, it's interesting and will help you with future stuff you do. Not just ds it relates to A LOT of other things..

He said he's 11

Then my advice is take classes on this through the rest of his schooling. I'm all for people proactively expanding the community. We've hit a real nice spot for the 3ds scene, and I'd love to see it expand. However, it takes time. If he's really 11, then he needs to wait a while. That's just my thought.

@Jacklack3 @Cornholio309 I figured it out! here's an example of a xml file working autobooting my minish cap game located at the root.
With it you can automatically start your game from the homebrew launcher.

Code:
<shortcut>
    <executable>/3ds/gpsp_libretro/gpsp_libretro.3dsx</executable>
    <icon>/3ds/gpsp_libretro/gpsp_libretro.smdh</icon>
    <arg>/Zelda - the Minish Cap.GBA</arg>
</shortcut>

Thanks @jaksy for your reply!

Oh wow, you can use spaces when calling the file? Nice to see a confirmed working example!

With all the interesting stuff happening, this is what we read?
A kid making a rom hack wants something for free.
I sympathize with your plight, but this isn't the way,
Read the forums, lurk, learn. It really will pay.

Awesome stuff! I was curious about this since I couldn't find much information about it and assumed it was a built in feature, but I was wrong. It's nice to see that it's fairly easy to set up.
