Would be cool if we could add custom images to notifications we make

JPEG should be possible if you do it in c or c++ using ctrulib: https://github.com/smealum/ctrulib/blob/great-refactor/libctru/source/services/news.c

If the lua library doesn't support it, you would need to add it by yourself. Haven't tested it by myself yet, because I wanted the icon to be the free Multi Patchers Icon in my update Notifikation.

right click "Raw" at the top right and save it next to the .3dsx. be sure to name it the same thing as the .3dsx.

One last question. Is it possible to edit the XML so you chose a application or so you can have notifications from eShop or system settings?

you can change the xml to let you pick a title:

<targets selectable="true" />

note that system applications don't work, like System Settings or eShop (or Activity Log, etc.)
