I recently was thinking about the jailbreak scene for the iPhone. The iPhone has a jailbreak tweak that allows you to browse through files on your iDevice using a USB and computer. Is this possible on the 3DS? If it is then I would be super happy if someone were to code it (giving out ideas ;)). If it isn't then I would just like to know why and if it is every possible in the future. If it is possible now tell me!

Statement:

When I say looking through the 3DS files I mean not through hard mod, but through homebrew itself or any other exploits.

I don't believe CFW and EmuNANDs allow root access as you are referring to it. Even if it does, what would be to gain? The NAND is system files, anything that needs to be patched can be done when loading the EmuNAND.

I'm not that deep into the 3DS coding scene, so these are guess. I know "Why?" isn't a great answer but really, why?

What would you use to connect the 3DS to your PC? It does't have any usb ports. You can use ftp to do this via wireless.

I wanna see the filesystem of the3DS

Oh, you can do that by dumping the NAND and the xorpads for it and decrypting the NAND using the xorpads. Then you can open it up in a variety of tools that support raw FAT16 disk images. You can change certain things and reflash the NAND without bricking your 3DS but generally if you try to change something it will cause a brick. Also, many of the important files have further encryption on them.

I have a GameStop charger for it that uses a USB slot.
People tend to assume a usb slot means data transfer capacity.

ds charging port only has two pins (earth and voltage), its only for charging, usb provides voltage and earth: anything that requires ~5v can be charged trough usb, be it a mobile phone, 3ds, ps3 controller, wii u gamepad or a dildo.

Thank you for your exhaustive list.

By the way, OP is actually requesting a nand filesystem explorer, which makes kind of sense but can't be done unddr ninjhax 2.x
