The NGC ports.

I own both SA games on DC and NGC but I ended up playing the HD remastered editions on the 360 as it was quite better and more comfy.

Then wouldn't you recommend the HD versions?
I'm a bit torn between the two as on the 360 it's digital only (although burnable to a CD/DVD) and on DC/NGC it's physical copies.

HD > NGC > DC

The analogue stick of the DC controller felt flimsy and just made me wish I was playing with the GameCube controller instead.

OK I see what you mean

Personally I suggest not playing Sonic Adventure at all cos Sonic Adventure is shit.

Normally I am right there agreeing with you, in fact I expect I still will be after this is said and done.

Side note
In think its funny how "the shit" is good but "shit" is bad

(36 minutes if that link does not work).

Just a question
While I love sa1&2 i can see why you don't but what didn't you like about chrono trigger (like you said in your op)?

Funnily enough, you can remove that hideous purple border and if you set the resolution to 1280 x 900 (or whatever the closest is), the game will get rid of the borders, so visually, it looks better than the 2003 port (jaggies galore in that version lol). However, the only personal issue I have is sometimes, like in Twinkle Park, the sound effects overshadow the music the entire time, not much can be done. The framerate is better in the 2010 version as well, 2003 has inconsistent speeds for some reason.

Are you comparing 2010 steam to 2003 windows or sadx on GameCube?

I recommend the Dreamcast version as I remember other ports having issues. That said, it's really not worth playing through. At the time, it was fun for me as a young Sonic fan to see it in such realistic 3D (different times), but going back and playing it now hurts that nostalgia. If you want a good third person Sonic, I recommend Sonic Generations.

It is nothing I truly dislike. I just could not get into the story, the mechanics were nothing special and having heard about it for years (it never actually came out in Europe until either the DS remake or the virtual console releases, not to mention I was always more into the megadrive/genesis back when and when I was getting into emulation) it might have also suffered a bit from being a bit hyped (does not usually happen for me but hey).

I can see why people like it but if I was to do a "list of games for people to play" similar to books you must read for those wanting to get a handle on literature or films you must watch if you want to do the whole film making bit then Chrono Trigger would not be in it, and I would not fault anybody for not having played it.

I never had issues with the gcn frame rate but then again I never really did the twinkle park area alot

Well, on the Steam port, framerate is pretty much perfect, the sound effects as there's too much noise going on (they're not emulated at the corrected levels), I can do a recording to show what I'm talking about :P

I understand and see what you mean. There are a lot of well received games I never could get into (megaman and most fps)
