There are plenty of guides how to do remove the top lens, have a look on youtube and see if you feel brave enough. In my experience the biggest risk is smearing glue from the edge of the lens onto the lcd panel when you're prying it off with a plastic spudger.

In hindsight I'd be extra careful lifting up the lens and use compressed air to blow out the dust. I removed the entire lens and used a very soft brush but it took several repeated tries and even then I couldn't get all the dust.
