Whenever I try to load this I'm getting a red flashing screen (bottom screen).
have hblauncherloader_otherapp_payload_OLD-10-1-0-27-USA.bin in the root of my sdcard obtained from holding y when launching hblauncher.
not sure what I'm doing wrong. any ideas?

my 3ds info:

menuhax using R to load rxtools
sysnand ver. 9.2.0-20U
emunand ver 10.1.0-27U

Since your using homemenuhax to boot rxtools I'll assume you have ctrbootmanagers boot.3dsx on your sd.

You'll have to look back in this thread for info on how to modify the menuhax payload to look for something other than boot.3dsx (for example: crtb.3dsx) at least I think the info is here if not its somewhere on gbatemp. Then have homebrew menu boot.3dsx on your root so you can autoboot and use the cia simultaneously

So basically once you would modify the menuhax payload to search for something other than boot.3dsx your sd would look like this

Sd/crtb.3dsx(crtbootmanager)
Boot.3dsx(homebrewmenu to be launched from cia)

Keep searching the forums abit you'll find the answer better explained

Now that's one weird question. The "only" goal of this thing here is to provide quick access to HBL from any home menu with patched signatures. The fact that you got to that home menu with autoboot or not is irrelevant. On the contrary by the way, it almost works better if you don't have autoboot since you don't have to deal with 3dsx clashes (have autoboot launch your CFW (or whatever) and have this cia launch your HBL).

Thats all i Want to know, thanks.

Question: This works great for me, and has since day one. however, I've noticed that for this method of launching the homebrew app, you can launch one homebrew application, but then you'll have to restart your 3DS as it wont let you return to the homebrew launcher unlike other methods such as ninjhax or ironhax where you can enter a homerbew app, leave it and return to the homebrew launcher. Is this just how it is? Or is there a way to allow it to return to the homebrew launcher after exiting an app when you launch the Homebrew Launcher in this way? Thanks for any help!

I'm not sure what you mean; that seems to work fine for me.

same here... L+R+B+Down always works on me regardless methods entering hbl. (need some payload editing for menuhax user, but that's all about it)

I never use that button combo to leave homebrew in the other hax, didn't know that was required for this.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Hmm, just tried, still beings me to a black screen when trying to return to the homebrew launcher. What payload editing do I need to do as a menu hax user?

I just set this up myself about an hour ago so it is still very fresh in my mind.

On the root of your sd card will be the payload you use for menuhax. It should have been placed there when you set it up. Open the payload with a hex editor (HxD) and search for "boot" to find the boot.3dsx entries, There will be two of them. Change boot.3ds to any four letter word you like. I used emun.3dsx.

On your sd card rename boot.3dsx to emun.3dsx or whatever word you used. Then changed boot_hb.3dsx to boot.3dsx.

That should be it. This is all assuming that you used the standard names when setting up rxtools and emunand.

Edit: Don't forget to update your boot.cfg to change boot_hb.3dsx to boot.3dsx.

Thing is I never used ctrbootmanager.

This is pretty much my set up but the button combo just restarts the HBL

Make sure you keep holding the buttons passed the first initial pink screen, then a purple screen should pop up.
Don't let go until you see purple.
Problem is I don't get neither a pink nor purple screen.
I keep holding Down+B+L+R until a long red screen appears, after that the HBL reboots.

Even if I let go of the buttons or simply keep holding them, in any case the HBL reboots.

That's odd, yeah it should crash back to home menu. Are you running it on Rxtools emuNAND? I use it with a nightly build and its working OK.

Yep I am using the latest rxTools nightly (December 5th).
I have the HBL CIA installed on my N3dS emuNAND 9.5U with the N3DS 9.5U otherapp payload that looks for a boot.3dsx file in my SD's root
I hold Down+B+R+L long enough until the long red screen appears and keep holding it, but I don't get a pink/purple screen at all.

Only after I press the 4 buttons down, I immediately get a glimpse of a pink screen after a short red one, but that's not the one I suppose since the response time for that screen is less than a sec.

which boot.3dsx do you use? or maybe your rop is corrupted. try using the smealum one for your firmware ( http://smealum.github.io/3ds/ ), but dont forget renaming it. :)

Ya, its not that pink screen, its too fast lol. The only difference I see, is your on N3DS and I'm using an O3DS but it should be the same thing. Sorry I'm not sure what the problem is.
