100% agreed with this ... I uninstalled CBHC and installed Haxchi back just so I can have a backup in the event that I can't launch Tiramisu via SD. Unlike other consoles that have modular SD cards that can easily be replaced, the Wiiu SD Card slot is soldered directly to the Wiiu Motherboard. Replacing it would require a hard mod desolder/resolder.

If you think about it , with CBHC most people had the SysMenu as the default boot option, and so the SD card slot IMO would rarely get accessed if you were just using Wiiu with CFW.. Now with Tiramisu, we're all going to add a lot more wear & tear to the SD card slot as it's required for every bootup.

With all of our aging WiiU consoles, as well as the added frequency of using the SD card slot now with Tiramisu , we're no doubt going to start seeing people's SD card slots not working anymore and realizing that there are no easy options available to get CFW back.

All of the current exploits requires that the SD card slot be used for initial exploit.

BlueBomb => launch.rpx from the root of your SD card
Indexiine / Tiramisu / CBHC/ HAXCHI requires a payload.elf on your SD card

Personally I would would recommend this:
If you have CBHC, uninstall it , reinstall regular Haxchi back and store it somewhere safe, and proceed to Install Tiramisu
If you have Haxchi, leave it alone, proceed to Install Tiramisu

Haxchi will not brick your console if you do a reformat.

Cheers!
I don't think this is a issue hardware wise Wii is way older and I don't think I've ever heard of defect SD Reader and second: You can use FTP instead removing the SDCard.

there is no such a thing as "Haxchi without DS Game"

Haxchi can be used in two ways:
1) Haxchi: By launching an original DS game manually
2) Coldboot Haxchi: set the game to launch itself on the startup (coldboot) < high risk to brick your console if the game is deleted or moved (among many other things) >>
View attachment 296941
Tiramisú launches the Mocha CFW on startup (coldboot) without the need of a game, because it uses the Health App included in the system of the wiiu, It can't be moved, can't be deleted, same for every user, so there is no potential risk to brick your console

Also, (for what i've read in this forum above) it is a new enviroment for developers to work with, more simple and clean, that help devs to bring more stable versions of the homebrew apps.

Actually I using online method Haxchi (webhack) where you dont need DS game.
https://***************/threads/more-stable-webhack-for-5-5-2-5-5-3-5-5-4-5-5-5-released.528757/

So, whats differente with that webhack compared to this Tiramisu?

Is this something I should switch to right now or am I fine sticking with Haxchi?

I've used Haxchi since November 2021, it's always worked fine, but is Tiramisu worth switching over to now or should I wait for stuff to be ironed out more?

Can you please elaborate on this ? Isn't Tiramisu, once installed and autoboot, leaves aside the fact to interract with the SD card slot ?

This is a good thought indeed. But i think there are other parts of the console that will die before the sd card module... I used a lot of sd card modules in my life and if never seen one dying.

No, you will not be able to use FTP if your card reader fails, both (WiiuFTPServer, as well as FTPiiU) requires that their respective files be on your SD card to be launched.

Even with Autoboot enabled, your SD card reader is still required. When you enable autoboot with Tiramisu, a file gets created "wiiu\environments\tiramisu\autoboot.cfg" , and within it it stores which option you selected to autoboot. This file is accessed everytime you boot your WiiU.

This is a good thought indeed. But i think there are other parts of the console that will die before the sd card module... I used a lot of sd card modules in my life and if never seen one dying.

I'm with you man.. I too think this would be a very rare situation...(link1 , link2, link3, link4, link5 ) . For me personally, I picture things like SD cards mistakenly being inserted upside down by your friend and bending the internal Wiiu pins... Or if any of you have kids, you'll know that there's no place in your house that doesn't have a cheerio shoved into it. ...

Anyways, I'm not trying to derail any of the awesome work that is being done here. I just think that if you already took the time to get your DS game , there's no reason why you can't leave just Haxchi behind as a backup in the unlikely event that something should happen to your WiiU card reader :) To each their own! Cheers!

The example posts of broken SD Card Slots are Hardware defects, broken pins or slots by mechanical destruction: Thats why I said to use FTP, because you can reduce wear on the slot. I think this a good practice anyway. The Electronics of the SD Card slot breaking is probably like winning the lottery and getting hit by lightning. Sorry If my first post was confusing.

not yet in my opinion. unless you use bluetooth controllers, there is no big difference compared to Haxchi CFW

Yes but I try to make a link between what you've said : "Now with Tiramisu, we're all going to add a lot more wear & tear to the SD card slot as it's required for every bootup" and your fear for broken SD card reader.

IMHO, internal SD card readers are very solid. Only the spring can fail over the years but you can still use it.

Which part is the exploit; Is it on the first boot when you are selecting the autoboot title? This only shows up once right?
you run exploit after install by launching this safety app. When you have set tiramisu to autoboot and you start console, tiramisus (exploit) will run automatically, then you should not run the safety app (exploit) again. But you can try it if you want. Your console just will freeze and there will be a message from maschell saying DO NOT RUN EXPLOIT TWICE.

I see, thanks for the clarification.

if you mean the black line, I don't think so. I think it's normal. I heard the reason for that glitch, but I don't recall what it was. don't worry, it won't affect the system.

Yeah I know it's not dangerous or anything did scare me the first time I installed lol just checking in if a patch had been made maybe that should be added to the hacks.guide so it doesn't give people like me a mini heart attack lol

well, lots of weird shit can happen with exploits on consoles. I've spent the last ten years helping people with theirs, and I've encountered some myself, but since I do a lot of reading, I've always managed to fix any issues I've encountered.
