Iv been playing around with this for a few days now, and thought id make an account to share my findings.
-The disc image is important! I had almost no luck in getting any working at all, let alone full speed using games from a very old 'full set' i got many years ago. I then tried a few PBP files I found from the first link in google, and some worked really really well, while others didnt at all. I tried one from a 3rd source and it works the best of the 3.
-3DS CIA opens, shows 3ds logo, then closes back to homescreen: I had this issue with various games, and the solution was to find a different rip of the same game. See First point.
Heres a few games I got working and the settings I used:
For all games, I start with default settings (Reset), and then: Vsync OFF, Sound Interpolation: Simple, Enable Dithering OFF, CPU Clock 31, HLE Bios (more on this below)
-Command and Conquer GDI Disc: Works almost flawlessly. When buildings are being placed, they are missing frames of animation (I suspect this is due to the low cpu clock). This is the only issue I have found so far, and its hardly a deal breaker. Finished the first 2 missions and played with some secret missions. Audio is perfect too.
-Final Doom: Works really well. Doors seem to be missing frames when opening\closing (clock speed again..?), but otherwise everything seems good. Only played a few levels, but definitely playable.
-Tony Hawk 2: Plays 'Well'. Few stutters, mainly when loading, and there's frames missing in game (which you can barely notice, but its there and can be off-putting). Definitely playable, but need to have a play with the settings some more.
-Diablo: Cannot get inputs to work. Game boots fine and plays the opening video, and then eventually loads the menu once the long video is finished. No buttons do anything, and messing around with in-game controls dont help. Worth noting, this works 'well' in retroarch 3ds, so I might need to play with the settings some more. Have tried 'stock' settings but they didnt help the input issue too.
I will try more games using scph1001 bios shortly, and also want to get a few more high quality rips from the 3rd source I mentioned above (since I have had 100% success rate with them so far). Just on a metered connection so its hard
If anyone has a fix for diablo id greatly appreciate it
