Strange bug! If light text color's green channel is 10 or 13, all light text disappear! :O
Oh weird! I'll look into it. There are a couple of other weird things going on with text so I need to review all that code. For now, set it to 11 :p

I know I'm asking too much but, will you add the posibility of change the size of the icons like the default 3ds launcher?
I'd rather not as the icons don't scale well and they are already displayed at their maximum size.

BTW, what is bottom bar at the transparency settings? And it seems the corner buttons aren't getting transparent.
Bottom bar is the bar at the top of the bottom screen. The corner buttons have their own transparency setting - toolbar icons.

The corner buttons transparency is working for me
Hey guys! Beta 35 is up:
  • Fixed the problem with the toolbars not refreshing when changing their colour
  • Added separate transparency options for top bar, static water, app icon shadow, bottom bar, toolbar icons, app backgrounds and paging controls. I will add support for translucent moving water when I figure out how! If anyone can have a look at gfxDrawWave() and gfxDrawSpriteAlphaBlendFade() in gfx.c from the original launcher and see if they can find some clues I would really appreciate it, as I don't seem to be able to work this out.
  • Colour selection is now displayed in a nice grid with icons I drew this afternoon :)
Thanks for the great Update as always! I'm loving the new Icons and new transparency options. I'll update my themes hbltheme.cfg now.

I backshadow for the text on the titles and description would be nice if possible. No matter what colour I pick for them, if the background has a colorful pic then the text blends into it

Yeah that's planned. Not sure I can make the text itself shadowed but I can definitely add the option of a translucent background to the text.

One suggestion.
  • Some folders take a couple of seconds to load and the screens freeze depending on how much apps it haves until it loads. Could it be possible to make a Loading folder screen just like the loading titles screen?
Nitpicking
  • On the folders help page theres no back button on the bottom screen like in the about page.
  • The floppy icon on the loading titles screen does not goes too well with the interface imo

Yep, replicated here. I'll investigate :)

Good idea, I'll add the loading screen from the title launcher. I agree about the floppy disk actually. I'll change it to a minimal 3DS cart. With regard to the back bottom on the help pages, this is intentional. This page is supposed to resemble the power off screen with info on the top and just buttons on the bottom, like the reboot page.

Thanks! the minimal 3ds cart sounds nice!.
About the back button screens I'll add screenshots to let you know what I mean. One page haves the back button and the other one doesn't.

JP Homebrew Launcher anytime?

I like this idea. Non-latin character support is one area where this HBL could one-up the upstream version. Once non-latin character support is added (if mashers wants to do it, anyways) you could have external files with all the UI strings so people can translate it into other languages. Though preferably not cluttering up the root sd folder but in a folder of its own, as right now there's a lot going there already for themes.

I know it's not exactly your job to fix this but is it possible to make this browser launch the thing that Blargsnes needs to load when using themehax.

Because it seems like everyone keeps pointing fingers that it's someone else's job to fix.

Themehax says Blargsnes needs to be updated. (Themehax doesn't launch through a game so it makes it not launch something needed for Blargsnes)

Blargsnes says themehax needs to be updated. (Blargsnes is the one that needs the thing to work so me thinks it should be their issue to fix)

I figured I could go to a "middleman" to see if you could do something about it?

Would be cool if you could but I know it's not your responsibility to do so!!!

That should definitely be doable relatively easily with FreeType, I am currently working on a VN engine port (cs2, Grisaia VNs engine amongst others), and I can kind of render Japanese text (some glitches remaining right now ^o^) using FT_Select_Charmap.

@mashers I found a bug. When setting the "Toolbar icons" transparency, the drop shadow behind these icons do not become any more transparent. What happens is that even if you set it to be completely transparent, you can still see the shadow on top of the background.

Also I got one small request, how about the option to adjusts the transparency of the icons (e.g. settings, help, folders, etc.) themselves and not just the button they're in? I would like to be able to completely hide them.

Where are you seeing this finger-pointing (preferably outside of GBATemp)? To the extent that Themehax "says" anything, it's that the exploit payload needs to be updated to fix this, which smealum plans to do.

So Im guessing you could make that? If so Awesome!

Blargsnes pointing fingers
"Until this is fixed (which is not on BlargSNES's end)."

Basically they are saying it is not their fault. It is my belief if they need it to work then they should initialize it.

And as for themehax pointing fingers it seems you already know what I am talking of.
