the option is '-personal' and it doing that makes it only legit/(installable?( with your 3ds -- and this way the cia only installed via pbt anyway, at the moment it has the most cfw patches for us

I don't know why people can't just visit eShop on sysNAND and spoof their firmware version with Spider hax (O3DS users only, of course...)... If they pirate or use homebrew, couldn't they just stick with emuNAND for that? For people using pbt-cfw, they could probably visit eshop with the Spiderhax to download game updates. I don't use cfw so I wouldn't know xD. I just stick with 9.2 sysNAND, Spoof eshop and sometimes install those generic "legit" .CIA's with FBI through Ninjhax.

Got an idea for users waiting for .cia's of game updates but it'll be off topic here.

last time I tried the -personal flag I got some kind of error. Just wouldn't work.

hmm well maybe you were typing the whole command line wrong, or, show me what error you got, i'm interested.
but other people have used '-personal' and installed the cias

On a side note, you can now use the MSET DS Profile exploit on the New 3DS using the Ninjahax or Ocarina of Time exploit using the new Gateway 3.2 beta. You can use FBI to uninstall the old System Menu so you can install the old 4.0 System Menu.

the limitation is in the fw, not the installer. so it depends

It depends on what? On whether it patches the fw or permissions to remove that restriction?

You can do that if you want. You'd need to have the old version's cia on the SD card. Then remove the title you want to downgrade and without exiting FBI, install the older version. This can and will cause a brick if you mess with certain system titles. Be very careful and only attempt it with a hard mod. (and a backup of your sysnand)

You just can't install the old version over the current one. That's the 3DS limiting that, not the various cia installers. (Which is what I believe cearp's point was)

it seems, maybe, that the new (3.2) gw patches out the version check, so that we can install the old system settings right over the newer installed one.

I tried using FBI insatller but I get an error: invaild title version (0x27)

I also updated the title.db and import.db.

I used fbi 3ds and cia file to install mset but it won't work.

I switched destination to NAND and got that error.

Any ideas?

what are you using to get title.db? and can it be done on Ninjhax?

I followed instruction on the first page. Create a blank title.db file and goto management to create the files.

did you uninstall it from FBI first before installing the title ID for 4.0 firmware?

if your on US firmware you need to delete
0004001000021000 than download

0004001000021000 v3078 (4.0.0-7U) with 3DNUS and install it before you exit FBI

*make sure you have v3078 on your sd card before you delete the Nand one so you can install it, it could brick if you dont install the old one
