How can you create bcmdl files, lets say i exported a 3ds model file to obj and then edited it. How do I import it back in the right file format ?

File->New from File->Nintendo 3DS Plugin->CTR Graphics (CGFX)
Don't forget to put the right name, it might crash if you use the wrong one. You can see the name when viewing the original model.

this only import one texture into model.

It's not possible to create models with more than one texture, it seems...
Wanted to create a new model / modified model but I was not able to add all modified textures back

That is strange. When I tested it, it did work pretty good, with mulitple textures aswell.

what do you think?
Would you add support for bch-files like these in Fire Emblem Awakening and Fire Emblem If? :D

I also wanted to ask this same thing. .BCH files are used in Atelier Rorona too, along with Popolocrois Monogatari, but I doubt these are exactly the same format as Fire Emblem or Pokemon, I know they're at least not the same as Pokemon.

Whats the header on the Fire Emblem files?

I actually started on bch, but I did not fully finish it. BCH is a Nintendo format just as bcmdl. I don't know why they would develop 2 formats.

I don't think Nintendo would, but developers would customize a format.

Otherwise the existing Pokemon converter/viewer would work for ALL .bch files, but in reality it only works for the pokemon .bch and nothing else.

is it not possible for you to implement the ability to edit byaml files? So we can make a 3d land editor ?

It might also be that that converter does not support certain things (doesn't even know they exist), and doesn't use pointers correctly. But I don't know. IIRC there were also multiple revisions.

Lately I noticed a bug when creating new CGFX files for use in 3D Banners. In most of the models I make, they have a part of the model that is all black. It seems to be random. This banner shows it:

I managed to "move" the black spot to the "tab" on the SD card model. I'm not sure why it's happening. It doesn't show up while viewing the model in EFE. Only once rendered on the 3DS does it do that. It's not completely random on where it shows up. On any new model it's random on where the bug decides to occur. But it is consistent once it occurs. It sticks to the same area every time the model is viewed on the 3DS.

The only time I managed to move it is when I shuffled the order of the materials. Otherwise once it shows up on a model, that's the part of the model it will remain on until I do something to modify the model.

Have you any news on BYAML FILES?
Not really. But byaml is mostly implemented, so the only thing missing, is an interface.

Hmm. Maybe something related to materials and textures goes wrong. Does your model have materials without textures? I don't know if that might cause it.

All my materials have textures assigned to them and the PNGs are pretty normal too. Nothing odd going on with my UVMaps either.
If you open the bcmdl in efe, does it show up normal? And is the texture of the black part in the texture section?

Sure. I've included all the assets I used for this banner (minus the banner cwav files). I also included a banner for a different app that also has this issue. I included both the cgfx file (the bcmdl as you refer to it as I guess) and the obj/mtl files they were built from.

EDIT: For my SaveDataFiler banner, the black spot is more noticable.
