Some issues I feel should be fixed:

-rendering (some textures look weird, for example, Mario's face in SM64)

-SRAM and sound

Otherwise it's very impressive, especially since many once said it would be impossible, yet you have done it. Please continue development on this emulator.

Some suggestions for future additions:

-controller remapping
-an interface (preferably something like the interface in Bubble2k16's emulators)

CIA version would be nice too

WIth time, the dev will probably fix or implement those things. Still, they are very common place stuff in emulators or homebrew, of which this dev is not exactly unfamiliar with (if you look at other developed programs and homebrew), so until then I'd try to be patiently waiting. Even if this just got published and had such performance already, you don't know how long the dev has been working on it. Maybe it's already gone a year or two? These things aren't made over night.

I had this urge to contribute somehow to this project last night. I'm not much of a coder yet, so unfortunately anything on that front was off the table. I messaged MasterFeizz last night and he suggested I could try and work on some GUI assets, so I went and made some and sent them his way. I made a mock-up too of what it might look like in-practice. Was wondering if anyone could give some opinions? I am open to configuring things to be better.

DaedalusX64 is a Nintendo 64 emulator for Linux and PSP, PS Vita and 3DS.

Instructions:
  • Place roms inside "sdmc:/3ds/DaedalusX64/Roms"
  • Use the select button to exit the emulator.

Holy hell this is a thing now
I've been wondering if it's even physically possible to get n64 games running on any model of 3ds, especially since (allegedly- it never gets above 25 fps for me on a n3ds) there's a way to get ps1 games running at 50-60 fps

Thanks! This gets me further. I had to download and build your picaGL from here https://github.com/masterfeizz/picaGL and install to /opt/devkitpro/picaGL but it seems to only build a .elf file. I don't see any rules for a 3dsx file in the Makefile though. Is that missing?

can someone record smash 64 on this?
Sure, I'll do some more showcases. Any games in mind other than Smash64? I may do Ocarina of Time (I've gotten in-game before) and whatever else.

This is one of the most impressive pieces of 3ds homebrew ive ever seen.

May I suggest skipping every other frame to bring a few games into a playable speed?
No need. Dynamic recompilation, or Dynarec for short, is planned to be implemented, so that games run faster without the need for frameskipping.

does this run in a regular 3DS?
V0.0.2 displays a black backlit screen on both screens and I have to reboot with luma menu/button. I tested V0.0.2 on o3ds and o2ds with updated files besides fw's and any game I selected brought me back to the hb menu.

Aside from the flickering ROM selection this is absolutely amazing in its current form, can't wait to see where this project goes, congrats to Masterfeizz and Rinnegatamante for getting this to run on the New 3DS and PS Vita respectively, hopefully the issue I mentioned is worked out (also side note, don't go full tilt on the 3d slider, I made myself go cross-eyed)

No you cannot play Superman 64. I can't get past this dang screen.
Isn't that a good thing though? Lol

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
