Well, the 3DS isn't realy shit specced, it was a reasonable jump from the DS, according to Nintendo's own behavoir when it comes to handhelds.

Sony thinking they could win the Handheld throne with raw power doesn't mean Nintendo did wrong. They did their thing, and it actually worked.

I am pleasantly surprised at how well Super Mario 64 is running on my New 2DS XL. Some thoughts and observations if you're still working on it (and for anyone interested):

    - Frameskip Auto 2 seems to get me a fairly consistent 30 FPS outside of the title screen (though I've really only tested BoB so far).
    - I noticed that graphically it seems to be trying to upscale the resolution to match the screen. How would I go about setting it to instead give me a 1-1 Pixel Perfect 240p 4:3 resolution? I feel like it might struggle less with some graphical output optimization.
    - Also, how about remapping controls? I realize this is super early on, but it feels weird using ZL instead of L as my "Z" input.

The fact that this even exists is amazing and I can really appreciate the effort it must have taken to even get this working as it is. I really hope to see this explode in the near future. Have you tried reaching out to Lantus/Modern Vintage Gamer? He greatly helped port and optimize both SNES and N64 emulators for the original Xbox, so he may be able to offer some pointers or assistance on the project overall. I would offer myself, but I am not a programmer by any stretch of the imagination (though I will happily help playtest :P)

Edit: Anyone know where the current compatibility list is being compiled? The one linked in the OP shows that it's old, so now I'm just confused. Should I still be replying to that thread?

This one emulator is one of them worth a lot. I am eager to get yet a new release!

I know I said this to death but I really am looking forward to getting past the menu selection in Stadium 2. Wonder how long I'll have to wait though. Though, I found out Glover works so I'm happy about that.

Why is the github page for this dead?

Calling it dead is very debatable. Believe it or not, the dev is a living breathing person with a real life.

Just a few months of no commits to its repository is hardly enough to call it "dead". Unless a dev states that development on a project has stopped, I wouldn't jump to that conclusion except if several years have passed, even then they might just be taking a much deserved break.

I avoid getting into arguments on forums, but this is a serious overstatement. Masterfeizz warned all of us that he had limited time to work on this emulator and that we should expect fewer but larger commits. He also referenced the PSVita Fork of this project, which you can see on Github is extremely active. Eventually, MasterFeizz or one of the other wizards on this forum will pull these commits into the 3DS Fork, eventually. Give the guy a break. He’s done more for this scene than almost anyone.

We know that MasterFeizz was working with Rinnegatamante on porting a Dreamcast emulator to the 3DS and we know that a significant amount of time was spent attempting to address dynamic recompilation errors when porting the emulator over. Given that Masterfeizz was the technical marvel who implemented dynamic recompilation with this emulator, it stands to reason that he has spent a significant amount of time on this other project.

Frankly, if Rinnegatamante and MasterFeizz can achieve their objectives and get Dreamcast running at acceptable speeds on 3DS, that would be a massive accomplishment that would open up a significant library of games (including arcade ports) that as of today are not playable on the 3DS.

How is it even possible to emulate dreamcast on the new3ds, and even the old 3ds, when it was stated that even the wii wasn't powerful enough to do this at payable speeds. I'm not expecting playable speeds above 15fps on even the new 3ds. On the old, I would expect 1 or 2 fps at best. The wii had a more powerful cpu than both 3ds and 3ds, and that's why iceclimbers were cut from smash4

They said an N64 emulator wasn't possible, either, and look what thread you're on.

I mean, is it theoretically possible for one to be playable on wii? I mean seriously, how powerful is the old 3ds anyways? Whats next? A gamecube emulator for old/new 3ds

N64 is possible on Wii. I mean, we literally have Virtual Console N64 games. It could be done, but I thought there was just a major lack of interest for working on it from what I've been hearing for the past how many years.

Oh, sorry. Just woke up so I misread. I wonder if it is. I guess we won't know until someone tries it eventually.

Not the same as an emulator. My point was that the wii is more powerful than the 3ds, and should be able to do a DC emulator better. Kind of pointless, but it can and should.

A Wii is not more powerful than a N3DS, and I usually don't target the o3ds for my projects.

Yeah, I was talking about o3ds. Speaking of which, will the n64 emulator have remarkable keys like the psp version, that would be cool if so.

I know you said above that you don't target old 3ds for your projects, but do you think after you further optimize the emulator, that mario 64 will become at least playable on on o3ds?
