Instead of new functions, I would like to fix the writing a theme over the other, in old versions it would work but now I have to set no theme then boot chhm and install theme to get the sound to overwrite the old sound.
it works fine for me. though i've had that happen once, but that was when a theme didnt have a BGM included, but did have the bgms set to on. so my own fault really.

For me it happens to all of the themes using Luma 5.5 and .3dx latest verso of chhm

Whenever I try to use the online downloader, it gives me an error.
Error [string "?"]:32 download request error.

I'll try to figure out what caused the error with url you're all getting but i'm quite sure it's caused by some changes in 3DSThem.es API. Anyway, if the problem can be solved, expect an update "quite" soon.

You should also address the problem with theme shuffler that causes that themes with long music tracks to stop looping and, a suggestion of mine, you should give CHMM 2 the ability to save the current themes selected in the theme shuffler so we dont have to select them one by one each time we want to change or add themes to the shuffle.

aka CHMM2

CHMM is coming back with a new, wonderful graphical UI fully animated and new features!
CHMM2 is a theme manager for 3DS for custom themes; it works under lpp-3ds and it is completely opensource.

v.3.0 TODO List:

Marked = Not yet started working on
Striked = Fully implemented and working
Red = On work right now
  • Compressed ZIP themes file support.
  • Password support for ZIP themes (like NSFW "undesired" themes) to show icon, previews and install.
  • Theme Downloader linked to 3DSThem.es (Thanks to @MarioErmando for the API).
  • A Grid Layout as third layout option.
  • Animations for the Ringmenu layout.
  • Integrated Theme Sender to send themes to other CHMM2 users.
  • Switchable Wave Style for Top Screen between normal and easter egg ones.
  • A BTCSM player and a body_LZ extractor (no more Preview image and BGM.ogg files needed).
FEATURES
- Themes auto-placer if you install it in the wrong directory.
- Theme Downloader linked with 3DSThem.es database.
- Support for custom themes.
- Support for BGM previews (BGM.ogg file) and screens previews (PNG, BMP, JPG files).
- Support for multiple themes with shuffle system overwriting Nintendo ones.
- Integrated network theme receiver.
- Multiple UI colors for customization.
- Beautiful and animated graphic.
- Faster if compared to CHMM.

HOW TO CREATE A THEME

A theme is composed by several files:
body_LZ.bin - Contains background images and some theme settings.
BGM.bcstm - Contains theme BGM sound.
Preview.png/.jpg/.bmp - Screenshot used by CHMM2 for preview system.
BGM.ogg - Contains theme BGM preview sound, used by CHMM2 for preview system.
info.smdh - Contains icon, author, description and title of the theme.

- To create first three files i recommend to use YATA+ ( http://gbatemp.net/threads/release-yet-another-theme-application-plus-yata-3ds-theme-editor.393355/ )
- To create BGM.ogg file i recommend to use Audacity ( http://audacityteam.org )
- To create info.smdh file i recommend to use SMDH Creator ( https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-the-smdh-creator-make-your-own-icon-pack.396765/ )

The dev replied a little above. But for the most part this dude has a ton of projects so things can slow down a bit not including irl stuff. This is also not including that he pretty much gave up on gbatemp and has his own forums where he actually keeps tabs on, there is a recent release thread here that explains this better than I can.

Edit: my bad this a new page lol so last page he replied.

It's a pity. As great at CHMM2 is, it's got a lot of flaws. But it's the only game in town for what it does.

I'm surprised nobody else has taken it up, or developed their own. There are a zillion Luma Updaters, but just on theme manager. :(

The problem with the Theme Downloader is definitely caused by a problem in 3DSThem.es API. I've sent a PM to @MarioErmando to solve the issue. He will probably fix it as soon as he can.

You should also address the problem with theme shuffler that causes that themes with long music tracks to stop looping and, a suggestion of mine, you should give CHMM 2 the ability to save the current themes selected in the theme shuffler so we dont have to select them one by one each time we want to change or add themes to the shuffle.

The problem is caused by music tracks bigger then a certain size. I don't have time to do tests and it needs A LOT of tests to figure out what are the limitations (i'm quite sure is something related to .bcstm size that shouldn't be bigger then a certain quota). If someone wants to help and wants to share his results for several tests, i'm happy to apply some checks (or at least a confirmation screen telling that the loop problem will happens if a theme is "not compatible") in the homebrew.

Is this project dead? It's been a year since there's been an update. :(

Last version came out on February 2016. From February to June there are 3 months, not a year.

Whoops! I was just going on the last update to OP of this thread.

Theme Downloader currently fixxed on my private build. I'm working on some other minor tweaks and features. If you have suggestions for the upcoming version, let me know.
A refresh? By this I mean perhaps a new banner, menu sound and some of the in app looks. They are fine as is but would be cool to be touched up.

Otherwise my question is does this already take advantage of the N3DS processing power or not? If not would it be possible to enable this to help with some loading speed.

I used two programs to create music files of the themes the Yata and audio looping convert 1.3.
The songs converted in Yata using put 10 custom themes presented problem the music are played only once.
But when I used the audio looping convert 1.3 all 10 Themes perfectly worked the songs repeating process.

The process of compilation and conversion of Yata is presenting several problems.
Identified two errors the first depending on the music is noisy and the second the music stops working if you have more than one theme installed.

The body file created by Yata has also presented compilation error. Some themes to be installed do not appear.

The second program I mentioned the collection and conversion of files to brctm was perfect.
No known failed installation used CHMM2.

Program link I said - https://github.com/libertyernie/LoopingAudioConverter/releases/tag/v1.3
Program used to create the themes - https://github.com/usagirei/3DS-Theme-Editor/releases

Note: The themes that I did and install the files brctm averaged 3MBs.
I've listed them below if you want to test.
  1. https://3dsthem.es/4926
  2. https://3dsthem.es/4923
  3. https://3dsthem.es/4920
  4. https://3dsthem.es/4919
  5. https://3dsthem.es/4832
  6. https://3dsthem.es/4817
These themes I made the music using the program mentioned four other third-party downloaded themes that also used this program.

I hope all this information helps.

Suggestions for the new update.
It is how to make a proper layout would be cool.
If you allow users to place background images in the program change textures of icons that would be pretty cool.
You can put a song to be playing in the program would also be really cool.
You could change the button to start the program instead of the power button could put the buttons A or B or to the program start automatically.

You probably have psychics powers since i added 804 MHZ mode support like 5 minutes before you posted your reply :P
Anyway, as for the refresh: i'm not very good on 3D banner making, the current one was made by @Apache Thunder so i'll probably still use it. As for the menu sounds, is something i was thinking about. I'll probably work a bit on these ideas.

@Rinnegatamante It would be possible to add more than 10 songs in shuffle mode ?

Definitely not, it's just a Nintendo limitation.

You could change the button to start the program instead of the power button could put the buttons A or B or to the program start automatically.

So according to your tests, it seems the problem was caused by YATA?
As for your suggestions:

1) What do you mean for layout?
2) Background images could be added but for the icons, it means just editing SMDH files for the themes, it's not something related to CHMM2.
3) It could be a neat feature to add.
4) Impossible as said several times before. Power button is NEEDED to recall the shutdown screen when exiting CHMM2 and this screen is needed to instantly apply a theme.

One problem I and many others earlier in this thread have is that often when you install a theme that has no BGM, the previous theme's BGM persists.

Is there a way to clear out the previous BGM when installing a new theme?

@Rinnegatamante I have the issue with looping as well. I've downloaded 10 songs from smashcustommusic, (all pokemon route themes, D/P: 203,205,206,209,210,225,228, and then from HG/SS: 3,11,101) They all stop playing about 1 second before the loop point. I've used some of the same songs in a cia installation of the themes, and even shuffling a few of those works properly. I'm not sure if there's some extra data stored when doing shuffle??

That will happen if the new song fails to load (like it's too big)

weird problem, I can do shuffle with 2.5 but everytime I try it with 2.6, it always stuck during installing.
luma3ds 5.5 + al9h.
Did I miss something ?
