    EDIT: The Flow released Adrenaline 6.3 with custom size controls. This patch is not needed anymore!

    Use these numbers in Adrenaline 6.3 to get the PS1 screen sizes from my now obsolete patch:

    Normal mode was equivalent to
    Screen Scale X (PS1) = 1.185
    Screen Scale Y (PS1) = 1.000

    Full mode was equivalent to
    Screen Scale X (PS1) = 1.500
    Screen Scale Y (PS1) = 1.000

    The above numbers are only good on VitaTV.

    About
    =====
    This is a patch for TheFlow's Adrenaline v.6.2. The patch improves display of PS1 games on VitaTV. It increases the screen size and eliminates the additional black borders on the top and bottom of the screen.

    I recommend the following settings to play PS1 games on VitaTV with this patch:
    ````
    graphics filtering: bilinear
    smooth graphics: on
    PS1 screen size: normal
    ````
    This patch only affects the setting `PS1 screen size: normal` when `graphics filtering` is not set to `original`.

    Explanation: Sony's original display mode for PS1 games on VitaTV displays a wrong aspect ratio that is vertically stretched. Adrenaline corrects this by scaling the height down. This patch scales the width up instead. This results in a larger image with no additional black bars on the top and bottom. The aspect ratio is still correct.

    Installation
    =====
    Adrenaline 6.2 must be already installed. To patch your Adrenaline, simply copy the file `adrenaline_user.suprx` to `ux0:app/PSPEMUCFW/sce_module/` , overwriting the existing file.

    Changelog
    =======
    - increase the normal screen size for PS1 games on VitaTV. This eliminates the extra black bars on the top and bottom of the screen.

    (Mega Man X4, these settings in Adrenaline 6.3 for PS1, fixes some minor screen tearing..............guess there's no point to using original mode anymore) (some games with hiccups in frames, still have t hem regardless of this setting to original)

    (psp with "original" you can stretch the screen with the new screen resize options (best for psp)...............you can't with ps1..............also note "original" mode on psp fixes slowdown on some psp games, that still apparently had it)

    (with ps1, some games are just broken probably because of the engine vita is using to emulate, example is some hiccups in PS1 Raystorm/Colony Wars.......................other than that everything seems in order)

    .................................

    (vita STILL manages to win against the RETROPIE. At least for the ps1 games, that don't need custom controls to fix bad controls or, are just full of hiccups on the emulation side of the vita like "Colony Wars/Raystorm/Armored Core/Medievil (inverted camera)", and a bunch others, but everything else the vita still marginally wins against the retropie, which recently had a 4.4 update) (retropie's graphics are a little ugly, with "2xsai", i think its okay)

    EDIT

    (A good example would be Metal Gear Solid on the vita/psp (PSTV Vita) emulator, looks lightly better and plays the same performance wise as a "retropie 3",(from TV) (using 2xSai filter) the controls are not bad ........ .................... but for a good portion of full 3D games like Spyro, Colony Wars, Medievil, Raystorm/Ray Crisis, perhaps Tomb Raider also, and Armored Core, the controls and glitches in the frame rates, won't give you a better experience ...................... including those 3D racers, but for everything else, as best as I can tell,..................... so you will need an alternative for some games, that is persistence due to controls or graphic hitches in the frame rates/drops)

    (the per-rendered games and 2d games, and some 3D games are all fine on the vita.................I don't expect any update to fix emulator engine problems, but a good resize screen option at original mode for ps1 like the way it now works when selecting psp games, would be a step forward, but as it is, you need both a retropie and a vita to get good playback on the ps1 library, without using a computer, edit without using a power hungry and bulk sized computer, even if its small ..............not the bests and convenient option)

    (This is Adrenaline 6.3 without the recent "COMMIT" change on the github page, so this version, the screen is centered)

    (for some reason the last commit not sure if it was t hat one or the one before it, off centered the screen on pstv, maybe also for the vita)

    (download this version, see if the screen is centered, on left right side after your reside the screen, then download the one on the github page, it has the COMMITS (changes) added to it, and see if the screen is still centered)

    I don't usually do this (double download for different changes) but, with Adrenaline's history, if it just comes out get it, and then wait a few weeks, sometims this problem happens

    (Thousands Arms runs perfectly on Adrenaline and is broken with glitches on "retropie", same for Chocobo Racing with speed hiccups.....................metal gear also better on vita....................a few games still better on retropie, those widescreen patches for Alundra/Diablo/Castlevania SOTN only work on retropie, not vita.....................so you really need both engines, but, you can get away with just the vita) (just good to know, though) (zanac x zanac, the zanac neo games released from psn for ps1 on vita, fixed the retropie playback problem of the memory card....................guess that would help trouble shoot changing save games between memory cards on the vita emulator, haven't played much with that)

    I think I managed to compile it. I don't own a Vita and have never touched the homebrew scene, so no promises that I did it correctly.
    (Link removed, see later post for properly(?) compiled version.)

    For Vita (not Vita TV), the two numbers should be the same.

    I am trying to remember the exact numbers. I think the best settings for Vita (not Vita TV) were 544/480, so
    Screen Scale X (PS1) = 1.135
    Screen Scale Y (PS1) = 1.135

    You can easily test it yourself. If there are some pixels missing on the top and bottom, you can decrease both numbers. If there are empty black bars on top and bottom, then you can increase the numbers a bit.

    EDIT: I really don't remember, it could also be 544/512, so
    Screen Scale X (PS1) = 1.063
    Screen Scale Y (PS1) = 1.063

    Just try and see which setting gives the best results (no pixels missing on top and bottom).

    I'm still poking around at the files actually. Having some problems getting pspsdk working, which seems to be needed to compile the cef section, but I think I'm getting close. I'll tell you if I manage to get it all working.

    Okay, I finally managed to get rid of all the compilation errors. I'm still not entirely sure how it's supposed to be compiled since there were no instructions, but hopefully this was the correct method. I do feel a bit more confident that this should work.
    Edit: Nope, still didn't work. Link to working one farther down page.

    The "COMMITS" are compiled automatically into the current release that is available for download, sometimes or most of the time, the physical release on github always has these in there, I compared the initial release I downloaed (should be), to one I downloaded after said posted COMMITS, and the screen was offcentered! (you can test that) (the author may of added in the fastforward code, but nulled it out, I haven't actually tried to compile a source code, manually, in almost a year and a half, last last time, I was fooling with something on mozilla browser)

    (BTW) :yayswitch:

    reducing the resolution of the Vita to 480p (640x480 , gives a performance boot in warriors orochi, so it plays like normal with out so muc hiccups),,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the RETROPIE has a "640x480" option for emulator after it launches a rom, that gives a considerable performance boost, Need for Speed 4 ps1 plays like normal not to mention all the MSU-1 Snes games (with expanded audio bitrate)

    (Most of the VITA games on adrenaline psp or ps1, played fine already the ones I have there, but, clearly from the Dynasty Warrior clones, I noticed a performance increase without overclocking (although I have o'clock vita installed), used, in 480p)

    (using 3.65 firmware scrolling the bubbles really fast in 480p you see performance increase, but using 720p you see performance decrease................people have said in the past this did not mean anything on the vita, only the RETROPIE, but now, it is important for the VITA, if you can use 480p, then I think you should!)
