Nice! How does it work? It simply changes the"Nintendo 3DS" folder name? Thanks!

*EDIT* Very elegant solution the idea offline a TWL app! And put it on titledb for improved visibility.
I tried adding it to TitleDB, but sadly, due to how it works, DSiWare apps cannot be added there.

If I were to store a 'Nintendo 3DS' folder in a bank, would I then be able to use it on another console?

Okay, I wasn't quite sure if this tool got around that.

Thanks for the clarification.
If you had the right keys, you could decrypt it. I believe Citra actually supports this on-the-fly, but on hardware you would have to re-encrypt and rename it, and like with repartitioning NAND to turn some of CTRNAND into TWLNAND, there's no easy way to do it yet.

Wait, how exactly does it generate a new folder? Isn't the folder the same every time or is the Id0 different or something?

It could be possible... decreasin' another partition's size of the NAND (possibly the CTRNAND would be the unique candidate), and then increasing the TWLNAND size.
Naturally, this isn't Windows that we're talking about (because there are many ways to achieve this in Windows), not even Mac OS or Linux... we would need to edit the partition table of the NAND, and that must be a pain in the balls for the 3DS.

EDIT: Also, according to 3dbrew, the name of the 3DS' OS or system is Horizon. Quite debatable if it's true or not.

Quick question: how do I move the apps I have currently installed from one slot to another? I want to move all my Virtual Console games to another slot.

You can't. You have to re-install them.
TWL/DSi mode cannot access the encryption the 3DS console uses.

Have you hit the 300 title limit on your 3DS, and/or want more than 300 titles, but don't want to make an EmuNAND (or 2nd one), or use another SD card?

The answer, is 3DSBank!

With this, you can store your "Nintendo 3DS" folder into a bank, and select or create another one to use, containing your other titles (and themes, and badges).

Download

This app runs in TWL/DSi mode to avoid potential issues when moving the "Nintendo 3DS" folder into the 3DSBank.

Before using this for the first time, it is suggested that you backup your "Nintendo 3DS" folder to your PC, in case something goes wrong.

NOTE: This app does not get around the 40 DSiWare title limit.

Controls
  • LEFT: Move left/Previous folder
  • RIGHT: Move right/Next folder
  • A: Select folder
  • HOME/Power: Have console create new "Nintendo 3DS" folder
I'm not familiar with the entire 3DS filesystem & directories.

Does FBI need to be installed in the home menu (of the new bank) to install cia files?

How can cia or DS files be installed to the new bank in godmode9?

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
