anyone who comes looking for why this is broken and has errors like "Exheader decryption failed" should just use the latest source code download of

get the actual source code, not the release
it works fine when you run it with python 3.13
you will need to install the pyaes dependency

Just use a hacked 3DS instead, that way you can convert CIAS or something else to a CIA using Godmode9.

Yeah this is kinda redundant with modern Godmode9 on a hacked 3DS. You can turn .3ds files into .cia files directly on the 3DS now.

What is this:
cxitool is a useful PC app that converts *.3dsx homebrew executables directly to cxi's, which are the building blocks of the CIAs that all you pirates know and love. This app was released a few months ago, but is was buried in a devkitpro repo so it has largely gone unnoticed. The author, fincs, has chosen not to publicize it for whatever reason, even though the source is public. I assume it will be a part of a devkipro update sometime in the future, but that seems like forever given there has not been an official update since January.

Oh i think i remember pc apps like this, at the time i did not like installing tools, but now its oaky, so please explain to me what a cxi is XD, is there a converter for that? or do i just rename it to cia XD

If you read that thread, it shows the usage - you create the .cxi from the 3dsx file, then use makerom to make it a cia.

Tool didn't work for me (ExHeader decryption failed).

Python script didn't work either (says pyaes or the bootROM were not found, therefore this can not be converted) despite boot9.bin being in working directory.

I give up lol.
