Sony seems to have opened direct pre-order registrations as they are expecting limited PS5 supply on launch date. They created a campaign in which you register with your PSN ID and you will be invited on a "first comes, first served" basis to pre-order a PS5.
The registration link is here
This seems to like a good opportunity for the company to control where stock goes, given the time we live in.
Unfortunately (or fortunately for them), there has been a surge in scalpers taking advantage of the current economic situation and supply shortages of popular and essential items. Anything related to gaming, streaming, conferencing and remote work has skyrocketed in price due to low availability and high demand. This seems like a good move on Sony's end to give an equal chance for everyone to get their hands on the next generation console.
Let us know your thoughts below and if you're going to be registering/hoping to buy the console on launch day!
