I'm pretty sure it is away around that. Even then once sells drop, they would most likely change it by spot pass.

Are you referring to the possible ripping method? Do you really think they would change it via spotpass, is that possible?
No you stupid, he means the game could be update trough spotpass to support save resetting. Care to read the thread next time ??

They do it to discourage used game sales? Yeah...like people are going to pay out full price for a game they could pick up cheaper than normal because of this feature. So everything may be unlocked at the start, im sure alot of people (including me) wont care about that when your picking the game up at 1/5 of the price.

I really don't get your whining.

It's not like there's a point to start a new game. It's not like you level up and make previous levels pointless or anything.

Whining about this is like whining about not being able to clear your files on a story-less fighting game.

Stop crying guys... when the manual says: "Can't be resetted" it means "there is no options in the menu to do this".
So ok it's maybe not possible to everybody to do this, but some tools now exist to reset/erase a 3DS savegame you know? You can also try to inject a corrupted save, and the 3DS will automatically delete it and create a virgin one... (it worked for all the games until now so why not RE:M?)

Maybe there is a buissness to do here! Buy used cartridges, reset them, and resell

But yeah.. it's a sort of hack, all users will not be able to do it by just "pushing A".

Nah, you just wait when it is autosaving then you remove the cart. Easy. The save data will corrupt and you will have to start again!

(Or not)

could be possible.. if the save is not too fast you can try. For some games it works

but it's an hardcore method lol

It is the fact they won't let you. Imagine all games start to do this, that would be really mess up.

I just restarted one of my ds games recently.

QUOTE(AlanJohn @ Jun 26 2011, 11:27 AM) Ok with me.
I hate it when some dumbass takes my game and resets it.
And that same guy play through the whole thing before you forgetting about auto-save.

Left with really no game to play.

I actually think it's a rather clever way of discouraging used sales without actually affecting the consumer - it's certainly much better than any other attempt I can recall. I mean, you can complain as much as you'd like to about the inability to start from scratch, but The Mercenaries 3D isn't the kind of game you should need or want to start from scratch with in the first place. Why would you want to erase your scores, or reset your Skills or relock characters and weapons? It's not like an actual story-driven game where all that stuff makes replaying from the beginning too easy.

If you really don't want to use Skills or weapons you've unlocked, just don't use them. It's very simple.

almost positive this will be a non issue, if you buy pilotwings used,,,, is it their mii in the intro or is it your mii flying around, when you insert it into a different 3ds it will replace the save with the current mac address . not worried about it.

You know even if the game has no resetting im sure it wont matter. I mean look at SSFIV the 3DS version came with EVERYTHING unlocked (well you still had to get achievements but they have no real value anyway -.-) and many people still like the game. In fact this would give you something else to go for (you know beating the last owners high score/personal best) also im sure capcoms just gonna make everything unlocked when you start it -.-

SSFIV and Resident Evil contain exactly zero things in common outside of both being 3DS games by Capcom.

The point of SSFIV was that the content was unlocked anyway so you could focus on fighting. Resident Evil, not so much.

Is the save data on the game card, or is it saved to the SD card (where you could technically reset the data by deleting the save via Settings->Data Management->3DS->Extra Data)?

Edit: Said 3DS, but I meant the SD card
Isn't it saved in the cartridge?

I think it is.

All it really does is discourage used sales, but that means a lot of people won't be able to enjoy the game properly. Tons of people wait for used copies, as retail price is out of their range. Now, imagine they don't know about this and buy the game boasting unlockables and the like for about $8 only two weeks in. They think they hit the jackpot, then they get home and find there is nothing there for them except the fully unlocked game with nothing for them to aim for. It destroys an element of the game, and may ultimately kill sales. What if I wanted to give the game to say, a younger sibling? They won't get the same joy of unlocking that new beastly character wielding a powerhouse magnum.

Some people find enjoyment in picking up the game a few months later, resetting everything, and taking a go at collecting again.

I honestly can't understand why Capcom is doing this outside of the reasoning "We want moar money!"

I was going to ask what save resetting is. But by reading threw the whole thread I got the basic idea. It's the ability to start a new game. Nothing more, nothing less?
