I've been doing some searching, and came across a few threads where it says that rb1 drums are most likely compatible with gh5. definitely not with gh:wt. Is this correct?

There's a store that's a bit of a drive, but they have 1 rb1 drumset for $15. I hear it's not a good one to get, but for $15, what the hell, right?

hmmm

i don't think any RB drums will work with any GH game... where did you find such info?

rb1 drums are quite ok - especially with silenced pads

rb2 drums are wireless , a little bit less noizy (out of the box) and have optional cymbals set - but the difference is no so decisive , especially when we are talkin about 15$ price

imho get it even knowing the drawbacks

yeah, the wired chart is wrong. joystig is what i saw. but neither site has gh5, which I've only read maybe one or two instances on forums where people claim rb1 drums work on gh5. I tend to believe it, but..

alright, I figure there's a 30 day return anyway, and at 15 bucks, pfft.

cheers

I have also heard unofficially that RB drums work with GH5 but I haven't tested it personally.

One thing that may interest you is that even if it doesn't you can still import the GH5 songs into RockBand2 as DLC using RawkSD http://wiibrew.org/wiki/RawkSD

And since RockBand 1 drums work with RockBand 2, you can import all the songs from all GH and Rockband songs (except The Beatles for now). Kinda seems like the best solution to me, you get the best compatibility, all the songs possible with the one set of drums. Of course there's draw backs, like the GH drums are more realistic, and you won't play through the game you'll just be able to play the songs.

wow

that's great info

i'll definitely check it out on weekend and give you some feedback on that

by the way - i paid for my drums 50 euros ( f***ing EU high taxes), so 15$ is real bargain

i can confirm that rb1 drums work indeed with GH5 ( thats very nice discovery)

the given above method of playing customs works also flawless , but only with original rb2 DVD, both usb and backup dvd won't work as they use cios ...

more compatibility between gh and rb is always welcome

That's not entirely true. RB2 plays fine from USB with wireless devices (like the LesPaul and GHWT guitar), but wired devices (like the RB drums) don't work via USB loader.

I also have the RB2 drums working from a burned disk, but not through the standard disk channel loader. I can't seem to find it right now, but I have a dedicated channel for loading Rock Band games from a burned disk which allows you to use USB devices like drums. I had success with combining this with RawkSD.

EDIT: I think this may be it but I can be sure.
