But this is a really anticipated game...

on small DS gaming communities like Gbatemp it is, but im pretty sure no random person on the street has ever even heard of radiant historia if you were to ask them about it

released on the 22nd ....will be in stores on 23rd....
But isn't that the case only for some games, when they were too stupid to give a proper release date?

Im mainly referring to the fact that in the states it takes about a day for the stores(gamestop) to get the game after the official release date...unless its a "street date" game like the big titles (ex. Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy) then in that case the store will get it early and be ready to sell it on the day of release. This is the reason way some bigger titles are leaked. Often they will hold a release party at midnight the day of release if its a really anticipated game (call of duty...GTA)..
I am pretty sure even small titles can usually be bought on the release date, at least I have the feeling that's the case when reading various forums.
Well it doesn't matter much to me. I either have to pay more than 75$ to import the game (which will take quite a while) or need to wait to get the game on the "alternative route".
I wished Atlus would expand to Europe.

Yeah, it hasn't even been in the top 10 games on GameFAQs. I usually use their site as a decent barometer for the popularity of a game. Game reviewers seem to really be enjoying it, though.

Not to go too far OT, but yeah. Last month, GBATemp saw a little over 200k unique hits. IGN, in comparison, registers over 8 million. GBATemp is definitely a large site for such a niche community, but I'm pretty sure the previous poster was referring to mainstream traffic.

It's almost impossible to get this Atlus games when you don't live in the US.

Extremely expensive and it takes several weeks.

I hope they'll rethink their strategy with the 3DS...

So far the game looks promising, and reviews that has been published so far are encouraging (with metascore of around 85% ).

What bothers me actually is the low level of hype for this game - as somebody pointed earlier it's almost dead in gamefaqs boards (around 4 pages of topics). Is it the decline of story-heavy japanese games?
According to vgchartz RH sold 70 000 copies in Japan which is hard to consider a success as far as DS games are concerned.
It saddens me even more that the chances of NA/EU releases of other ambitious projects, Xenoblade and recently published The Last Story despite the almost universal acclaim are very slim, because of weak sales.
Any thoughts on this?

WOW.

EPIC STORY
EPIC GAMEPLAY
EPIC EVERYTHING.

I'm really annoyed at how I almost didn't end up hearing about this.

I have such a ridiculous backlog of games to play now.

I think that a large problem is simply that WE are the ones hyping the game. How many people who frequent these boards are going to actually buy this game? Less than half? Less than a quarter? Try less than 1%. As hard as it is for some people to accept, we are hurting the possibility of getting these games.

thx for the update trev. a bunch of people who ordered from amazon are reporting it's shipped already with an estimated arrival of tomorrow

I love Atlus, but I never knew this game existed until this topic! Super excited to play it, hopefully I'll be able to find a copy after work tomorrow evening. Gave the Japanese version a little run to just get a feel for it, and it's a beautiful game. Something about the color scheme they use really makes the game pop and the music...you just want to stop playing for a bit just to listen to the songs. Can't wait to give this a go!
