Erase everything except the games.
Put your old R4menu back on.
Only copy these files from the link I gave you: TTMENU.DAT,TTMENU.NDS,TTMENU.SYS
and TTMENU FOLDER to root of your micro sd.

Then go inside the R4iMenu folder and open the multimedia_path.ini file delete whatever
text you see and type in TTMENU.NDS then save the file and overwrite it.

The power on the ds and select the multimedia icon.
it all works but at exactly the same speed. it takes around 100 seconds for the game to load but all the other games seem fine

suppose im just going to have to live with it...well the kids will!

Some people having problems some not, so if you bought from an independent reseller they could be fakes. Was it from a reputable company? ie Jessops? or did you get the memory cards from the same place as your R4i? Id take them back and tell him they are slow.
i got the r4i and mem card from some dodgy warehouse so i should expect it really but its just strange its just new super mario bros (as far as i can see) thats causing the prob now?

yeah you will find that some games work fine, try castlevania that stutters like mad, and animal crossing, also Golden Sun and new Pokemon White/Black will have problems, and mario v's donkey kong, the list goes on but the kids prob wont notice it lol, it did my head in like.

@jonxs
His micro sd card is just fine. It is a class 4 which means that it should have a write speed of about 4MByte/s
He has 5.91 MByte/s, so it is better than average.
Unlike you, I based my assumptions on reliable sources: Link

Edit: @jonxs I didn't mean to sound so harsh. You're just trying to help.

@groggy Try a different copy. Sorry I couldn't help you. There's nothing more I can suggest.

ok thanks for your help sephxus
i just tried another copy but still same...it runs perfect when it eventually loads so i suppose it just one of them things with this cart.

but another prob i now have when i enter the games through the multimedia option my movie files have gone? there is no option to play them?

@jonxs my mate is bringing a different memory card round tomorrow so i will try that...ta

Copy the moonshl2.nds file from the moonshl2 folder to your Games folder, and launch Moonshell2 just like a game.
Or you can erase everything I told you to do and use the R4i firmware and multimedia option should be back.

@Sephxus - it is not an assumption, I have first hand knowledge as I was in the same boat as Groggy, his memory card is faulty! or fake! fact. I had the same problem with a psp with a fake memory card with slow read write speeds, the suggestions you are telling him to do will make zero difference to the speed that the game loads from his memory card.

Groggy change your memory card to a known genuine SD micro and it will work just fine.

I do not wish to start a flame war.
You just made the People I Hate list

First of all, you assume he has the same problem you have which may not be the case.
According to the test you made him take his speeds are:
QUOTETest finished without errors...
Writing speed: 5.91 MByte/s
Reading speed: 11.0 MByte/s
You assume that slow read speed is the problem.
1. The New Super Mario Bros rom is about 14Mb. Can you figure out how much it would take to read that? Let me help you: 1.27 sec.

2. It make more sense to question the reliability of the cart rather than the micro sd. After all, it is a DSTT clone masked with an R4 label.
The manufaturer also uses a badly coded firmware (which they stole from the DSTT team.) Also, if you do some research you will find out that loading times were also an issue with the original DSTT.

3. If the micro sd is the problem, can you then explain to me why it only causes problems with NSMB and not all other games?

I tried to help him by replacing the firmware with another another one, but unfortunately his cart is one of hundreds of clones and since I don't have the cart to test it, I can't really recommend one that will work.

I also had experience with faulty micro sd cards, but the problems are usually with writing speeds not reading speeds. However, it might be possible.

Based on the test he just took, the micro sd card is not faulty. Decide what you want to believe.

@Sephxus he has not tried other games if you care to read his posts as he has not had the time, or are you just assuming this ? you do not wish to start a flame war yet you post a spoiler saying 'added to the people you do hate list' you base this on the fact that I said something different to you? I never flamed you once!

You also state that New SMB is 14mb rom size so :

1/ I am aware of this but as you seem so far clued up on your knowledge you should know DS games have different RAM speeds and this has nothing to do with the size of the rom.

2/ Many people on gbatemp have had problems with bootleg Kingston Taiwan sd cards,

3/ I was trying to help Groggy as his symptoms are the same as mine, not once did I say anything against you.

4/ I suggest you take a lesson in being an adult and taking other peoples thoughts and ideas into consideration and grow up a little while your at it.

5/ I could not give a flying fuck if you dont like me or not.

@Groggy I hope you get your problem sorted.

you both have been trying to help and i very much apprieciate it

tried 3 different copys with same results

trying a 8gb card i found in drawer now!

groggy said:
would the wood software speed it up and would it work on my card? (for the 4gb card)
A). Wood doesn't work on clones unless it's the R4i Golds which have builds.
B). If your card is slow, your card is slow.
