Hacking R4i Gold 3DS Plus Help Requested

Hi guys. I am looking at purchasing an "R4i Gold 3DS Plus". Do you guys recommend a site that sells R4i Gold 3DS Plus? What all can it do? I mainly just want to play my DS ROMs and use cheats for them.
Side note, I have a N3DS (New Nintendo 3DS). Any help greatly appreciated


Note: I read on another thread on here that R4i cards need kernel in order to run, and GBATemp has been told to remove info on that I think. What do I do about kernel?

As Shadow said, nds-card is good. They used to be GBAtemp's sponsor but it seems they are no longer, they are a reliable vendor though, bought stuff from them a few times and never had any issues, and their prices are good.

Ok. Thanks for the info from you both! I have a few questions before I proceed:

2. Does it come with Kernel already installed? If not, how do I get that?
3. All of my NDS games are in ".nds" format. Does that Card support that file type?

1. Copy the kernel to the SD. That's all
2. You can get it from the manufacturer's website. It's WOOD R4 V1.64
3. Yep it supports that file type

Thanks for all the help guys! Very much appreciated! When I do get the card, how do I open it safely? I read online that there is a switch inside cart to go between DS and 3DS mode. Would primarily keep it in DS mode. Help appreciated

No worries, nds-card takes PayPal. They will send you the PayPal address once you order (they have to do it that way since PayPal doesn't allow flashcarts)

DS flashcarts are usually either held in by a single screw, or by clips on the sides. Either way, it's not hard to open, and you'll probably only need to do it once to install CFW (and then again to switch it back to DS mode) if you haven't already done that.
Once CFW is installed, the cart is no longer needed for that.

Yeah, just pick PayPal at checkout, they'll send you the address quickly, but it doesn't hurt to send them an email requesting the PayPal address if you don't see it in your inbox within a few minutes. They have to manually verify payments but they are usually pretty quick. It is Christmas though so be prepared to wait a few days since they might be on Christmas holiday.

Yep. You can send money to The E-Mail via PayPal. But they'll explain that to you

The R4i Gold 3DS Plus specifically is made to work with both without flashing.
If you are looking at the page for R4i-B9S or similar... that's another matter.

Before I proceed, I have a few questions:

1. I am thinking I should order from that site since I live in the States (Iowa). Is that a good site to order from? Recommended and reputable?

2. That site says they accept PayPal. How would that work since I heard that PayPal doesn't accept Flashcarts or something?

3. When I do receive the cart, how do I format the micro SD card? What format should I choose and which format options? I would be using a 32GB micro SD card.

Any help greatly appreciated
