Hacking R4i 3DS problem

So a friend gave me her R4i 3DS flashcart to look at.
The problem is that the 3DS won't detect it and when inserted into a DS lite it will freeze the Nintendo information screen.

Is there a way I can fix this?
Also if someone has the same flashcart can I have the needed firmware files?

Does DS Lite works with other flascards? If Yes, it could be faulty R4i3DS.
3DS and DSi should see r4i if is inserted, even if microSD isn't plugged in.
