Hacking R4 with an upgradeable bootloader?

Is there a R4 with an upgradeable bootloader? In other words if there comes a fw release of 1.4.2 and blocks all cards working so far, is there some R4 that could be upgraded in the same way as the AK2i, DSTwo and iEvo? I'd like a R4 for testing WoodR4 but don't want a R4 which ends up next to my CycloDS when it can't be used in the DSi anymore.
