if u ask me, a new cart just for SDHC is not very likely
Why... because maybe they want to increase the inbuilt ram for further updates like maybe realtime saves or menu for cheats etc since the present one is not very capable of doing so
EDIT: I had already bought it before this update and seems like Bamboogaming is selling these V2 cards

I suppose the main advantage of an SDHC for your DS would be using it for other purposes like digital cameras and such. Apart from that, i have no idea why you would need so much storage =\

Like what everyone said, I'll be happy if the team continues releasing new kernels for the Old R4. Otherwise fuck them.

i think the old R4 might not get many more updates.

why? because the firmware isn't upgradable, only the loader.

and it seems there are limits to what you can do with the loader only.

Speaking of which, if new firmware came out, what would it be out for? what would it add or patch?
I think only game compatibility right?

They can fix the ARM7 problem with the few games which require it and also the Wii connectivity thing. Also a new (and decent) GUI would be very much welcome.

Aside from that, most of us R4 owners would be happy. 2gb cards are good enough for most (as they are cheap).

All you ppl questioning 4gb+ for a DS which does music, videos, games and pictures need to ask themselves: why 80gb for an iPod which is mainly focused on just playing music?

I would imagine the number of people who actually use their DS's seriously for videos, music and pictures is very low, for the reason that it does none of them very well.

Movies can add up to 300mb+ each, then there's my 50 or so mp3s and then the games of course which when you have 30 of on a 2gb card you need to delete something to add a new one.

Who says the new r4 is going to use different firmware? If it just reads SDHC cards, it could use the same exact loader as the old r4.

How about 50 episodes of anime and 6 CDs?

Exactly, i use my DSL for media purposes aswell not just gaming. Reason i got an R4 was for media purposes. So most of the time 2gb just doesn't cut it.

Okay that's fair enough, i mean since i have a 30GB video ipod, i guess i have a different perspective upon a 4GB+ card for a dslite, but each to his own in the end. =)

Might as well have gotten an iPod video. You can play Videos, listen to music, and view Images.

I use my R4 strictly for gaming and homebrew. Therefore 2GB is fine enough for me.

4GB would be nice though.

true, but the R4 team might be greedy enough to drop support and make us buy the SDHC cards

Pfft.. I doubt they would do that.

If they could use the same Loader for both the Old R4 and the SDHC R4, then why not just use it for both versions?

the cards still cost too much and i dont understand trying to watch a full length movie on my DS, not what its for.....

Some people either dislike Ipods or cant afford them. I dislike Ipods and when i do want to game i don't exactly feel like playing Solitaire either.

My thoughts exactly. I hate iPods with a passion and having one device with great media functions and kickass games makes the DS a helluva lot better than an iPod.
EDIT: And since when did SDHC cards cost too much? You can get a 4GB SDHC for $40 USD. That's the same cost of two 2GB cards.

BTW, when I was typing this, Firefox didn't spellcheck "helluva" lol
