I recently purchased an R4 SDHC Gold Pro from ebay and I was happy that it came but with some minor problems. I was wondering if I could get them fixed. I am on NDSL and my SDHC is 32GB that is just about full with about 700MB ish remaining.
One, I know is not getting fixed is the Wood R4 kernel. I really wanted this since I was using it previously with my original R4. Maybe someone could find a way to integrate the Wood R4 without bricking the cart itself.
Two, well, I was trying to save up some of my battery by dimming the screen but the only settings that save are the ones that I have in moonshell. The only way I know how to do it is by going into the 'Games' menu and clicking on the L button. My settings do not save for when I turn it back off but when I go to play a game, the brightness is still low, so that's good. I was wondering how I can save this setting though so I don't have to keep doing it.
Three, this one is odd. I wanted to change my skins from the original, I go to the config menu and press skins but when the menu comes up, I only have four skins to choose from and when I go to the fourth skin it wont let me choose any others but when I go up from the fourth skin, it creates this out of place box on the bottom of the menu and clones the original options from the top. It simply wont let me choose a fifth one and I downloaded the kernel from here http://www.r4isdhc.com/KerneDownload/R4i-V3.7b English.zip . It has 13 skins but I can only access 4 of them. They are also organized by some sort of config file since, when I went to rename them and add new skins, the 01. Default skin still shows up first and not alphabetically.
Four, this problem is in moonshell. I tried to play NDS games through moonshell but not a single one will open and when I try to open them it says that the application was halted at the top and the screen freezes but it doesn't show any white screen or anything it just stops. I also had some problems with DSLinux http://filetrip.net/nds-downloads/applications/dl-dslinux-1-0-f27981.html. I couldn't run it through moonshell as it simply went to a white screen. I have also tried to play SSBC homebrew http://filetrip.net/nds-downloads/games/dl-super-smash-bros-crash-ds-demo-10-1-nov-2011-f26677.html and that loaded up but when I went into the start menu and pressed start, as it would usually load the game, it froze at a white screen also. This is the main reason I want to boot up in R4 Wood because in my old flash cart, these homebrews would load, I really liked SSBC. I also tried to load up JenesisDS http://filetrip.net/nds-downloads/emulators/dl-jenesisds-0-7-4-f2557.html but every time I try to load a game, it freezes at the loading rom screen.
Fifth and finally, I wanted to play GBA games through the hbmenu.nds emulator. It was an utter failure. This probably is greedy to think but I really had high hopes for it since the file name has r4igold in it. But assuming R4 Wood cant run on this cart, I can't run this program either since it was developed for Wood R4. I am thinking of getting a 3in1 but I am still unsure of this route since I still don't know a reputable dealer and I dont know compatibility for this specific cart.
As for bugs this is as far as I go. Everything else works great. The NDS roms load as long as they are in a folder in the root and the cheats register, even with patched roms. SNemule works just like it did before, I am not exactly impressed by SNemule but I guess I will live. Stella also works phenomenally as does nesDS. I have no problems with the GG emulator but Lameboy seems to have a slow loading time. That's all, I hope you guys can provide me some tips and hacks that can make these pesky bugs go away!
Thanks guys~
