Here is a link to a 8gb microsd:

8GB MicroSD

So there will be 4gb cards about soon but I think the R4DS could support 8gb cards with software updates in the near future or there will be a newer card with the support.

4GB non-SDHC cards exist. To use them, you have to format them with 64K clusters, (or Partition them into smaller sizes? unsure if that would work)

And there is no magical software update that will enable R4 to use SDHC.

And why do you care. DS games aren't that big.

So, to work a SDHC card with a normal device (wich isn't support SDHC cards) is just to format it with FAT(16) and 64K cluster?

i think theyll release a 4gb non sdhc, when they come out with new chips

I doubt it. I think the whole reason for microSDHC was that the regular microSD format has reached it's limit in terms of memory capacity.

The only things microSDHCs and regular microSDs have in common are their sizes AFAIK.

Would a firmware update bring SDHC functionality to the R4DS? (I doubt it somehow)
No, firmware is stored ON the SD card so how would the R4 read the new firmware from the SDHC in the first place?

It is possible for a 4GB non-SDHC MicroSD to be made, there has been non-SDHC 4GB standard SD cards out on the market for a while.

to adding sdhc support to r4: Isnt it possible for someone to make a peice of soft ware which loads into ram(like flashme) that enables the r4 to use sdhc?

like, after it loads into ram, you put the sdhc into the r4 slot, get the program to read it and "translate" it to code the r4 can read, then save stuff?

it would have to be done every time you wanted to use a sd hc, but couldnt that be possible?

I wonder if that was the point of game streaming
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    But it's a dead end
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Psionic Roshambo, people who cant download it can still play the game
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

@BigOnYa, i only have like 1 or 2 mb sec

Did you feed the hamster in your internet router? It prob died and is running slow now.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, why did you start saying my pc has a hamster in the first place?

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

They went all in on streaming, should have been more of a hybrid approach

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
