Hacking R4 Deluxe giving me hell

I got a deluxe from DX, had to use ultra firmware v1.54 because the latest deluxe v1.22 firm wouldn't load.
Some games wont work(GTA, mario kart, nintendogs, animal crossing) so I've tried to use Ysmenu. No luck, I've tried all 4 options with the skins options on and off.

Just to recap and be sure I'm doing things correct;

Option 1; put the TTMenu and _DS_MENU.DAT folders on the root of the SD, no original R4 firmware needed. (card doesn't load)
Option 2; TTMenu + default.nds +DEFAULT.SAV to the root + original firmware. (unsupported DLDI Name)
Option 3; use original firmware + TTMenu replace original moonshell with _DS_MSHL.nds (I get Unsupported DLDI Name)
Option 4; use original firmware + TTMenu and YSMenu.nds (I get Unsupported DLDI Name).

I cant see where I'm going wrong, does anyone else have this card working?

I don't have a R4 Deluxe, but on my normal R4 (well its fake, but that doesn't matter), when I ran YSMenu, some games wouldn't work until I put on some newer file. I think it was YSMENU.ARP, but I'm not sure.

Basically, ALL r4/ttds's give people issues[normally REQUIRING the end user to patch or hack a rom(that doesn't sound like a good card from having to patch a bunch of games yourself, IMO) OR just not working at all]
Just dump it and get a proper cart, like an AceKard, SuperCard DS1, or a Cyclo. With their properly updated firmwares, you should have much less issues with games

...that "r4" you have is more of a ttds clone, anyway.

R4 Deluxe = R4 on DSi. Get an M3i Zero or anything that doesn't have the letter "R" and the number "4"

Or 'Ultra', or 'Upgrade', or 'Gold', or 'Deluxe'.
