Hacking R4 clone ?Menu

Hi
I downloaded a kernel for my r4 card from the 4i-sdhc site (the one at the bottom)
I tried to put a rom too on my sd card (32gb formatted at fat32)
When I open up the r4 cartridge in my dsi xl, everything is white and on top in the middle it says "?" and below it "menu"

I know what I bought is a clone but there must be a way to make it work
There's a difference when I don't put the sd card in vs when I put it in

If the URL on the cart is either "r4i-sdhc.com" or "r4isdhc.com," don't use the kernel from the official site. The official kernel has what's known as a "timebomb," which is code that will make the kernel no long work after September 2019.
