I have tested both versions of LEGO Harry Potter 1-4 on my Flashcards.
YSMenu and R4/TT Menu.
Both Versions works with no savefile issue.

It didn't change anything...I think the Software/some files on your Flashcard are maybe outdated.I don not know which one you have exactly.

I use an R4/TT Menu version 2.32 and YSMenu 7.05.I "build" each version together from the Multi Card update for my old R4iTt purple:

Appended is a zip File with my Infolib.dat + savlib.dat.Maybe this helps you on the R4/TT Menu.Please backup your SD Card before copy the files over.

I think of these because of your SAVE issue.If a game CAN NOT save thats one.But your issue reminds on an Games who not correctly "detected" or "known" by the Flashcard(software).
When I use the firmware that use YSMenu, most of my games have this save error problem, but when I use the original firmware (wihtout YSMenu), I don't have this error and the Lego Harry Potter game can launch (but is stuck on a white screen)I think of these because of your SAVE issue.If a game CAN NOT save thats one.But your issue reminds on an Games who not correctly "detected" or "known" by the Flashcard(software).

Someone mentioned it here before: please rename the GAME to for example Potter.nds if you do not tried it before.

I am sure you have tried other versions of your Games.Because maybe the ROM(s) causes the issue.

The purple R4iTT is really old and the Game works on both Menus (R4TT and YSMenu).

Did you check also the SAVE files entension ? .SAV or .sav ?

I think your R4 Card is too old to have the arm7 patches in the Frimware.

Turn the DATE back a YEAR.
I remember of an R4 Kernel bug in 2010 or so....
Please put only that special Game in the ROOT of the SD CARD.
